Attack…attack… policy expected at Hull

Sam Allardyce will be expected to show the team’s “new attacking style” when the team arrive at Hull for their next game.

ennerThere’s a hugely buoyant mood around the club with nine new signings through the door and  nobody is ready to accept a defensively based away formation aimed at “respecting the point.”

We were told today by one senior source today: “We have a squad for all occasions now and we expect to go away and show attacking enterprise starting at Hull.

“We expect to have Enner Valencia and Diafra Sakho available so we should be at somewhere close to full strength.

“And with Alex Song coming in we expect the team to be hard to be beat and to drive forward home and away.

“We also expect to have James Collins back  for the Hull match and there is a chance that Matt Jarvis will be available so we have plenty of attacking options.

“Last season we were something of a one trick pony but the manager has been working on a new way forward and we are expecting to see an attacking game at Hull. Things have changed – expectations are different.”

  1. I hope “attack, attack” doesn’t translate to “concede, concede”!

  2. If Allardyce starts the game at Hull with Carlton Cole up front I will be incensed. It would also confirm that he has no idea about how to play the modern game of football.

    • Although I couldn’t agree more with you, cole and vaz te are never prem league strikers in a million years! I don’t think BS has had much of a choice.
With Valencia not match fit and sahko just arrived and now injured, there wasn’t a lot else he could play.
However, I’m not sure what progress will be achieved if we play one up front and that one up continues to be calton cole.

I’ve nothing against playing one up top but that one up has go be suitable for that role and good enough.
BS has said that we should have nearly a full strength squad to pick from.
I for one will be much happier when we can name a defence from Adrain, Cresswell, Reid, Tonka and Jenkinson.
Build a midfield around Noble,Kauyate and Song with an attack consisting of Zarate, Sakho and Downing and we have the basis of a very good team! COYI!

      • Good choice of a line up….just wondering were Valencia, Amalfitano and Nolan fit in.
As I commented yesterday £12 million pounds wasted on one average player whom I have yet to see anyone put in their prospective side.

  3. Did you pull my comment? Can I ask what was wrong with it please?

  4. I think anyone who expects an Allardyce team to attack attack attack is delusional. He only knows one way. We have had him for 3 seasons now and you could count the number of times he has started with 2 up front on one hand. I doubt weather Zarate will get a look in when Nolan’s fit, and we will return to the long ball as soon as Carroll pulls a shirt on again. I feel really sorry for the Gullivan Bros they are between a rock and a hard place. They have invested so much money of their own and have to be reliant on a one trick pony to get interest on their investment.
I remain claret & blue through and through, but sadly watching 4-5-1 has made me sceptical and frustrated.
    COYI forever.
