Austin injury may prove a DS point

austinDavid Sullivan’s injury fears over Charlie Austin have been at least partially confirmed with the news this evening the Queens Park Rangers striker could be out of action for a month.

He has picked up a hamstring injury in what has also been described as an “acute muscle injury” and will be sidelined for at least a month according to national reports.

He picked up the problem in a 4-0 defeat by Fulham at the weekend having scored seven goals in nine appearances for the team.

Sullivan took enormous stick from the world and his wife after making his feelings clear on the Rangers striker when questioned on a www.kumb.com podcast about whether the Hammers would sign him.

The Irons chairman said: “I fully accept that, day to day, he is fine and that his recent form is fantastic, but the fact is he failed a medical at Hull three years ago.

“The question is whether past injuries will impact on the longevity of his career. Obviously, it will depend on his latest medical, and even with that information medical opinions might vary.

“I hope Charlie plays on until he’s 37 or 38, as he’s a fantastic player who I admire.”

But it seems his judgement on not to pay £15 million for the player may have been justified quite apart from the fact that Andy Carroll is back from injury.

  1. What an absolute load of sh#t,lol, how does Austin pulling a hamstring somehow prove Sullivan right.I bet there are players all over the league with pulled hamstrings,it hardly proves Sullivans assessment of Austin was right. What does a pulled hammy have to do with having no knee ligaments.Talk about clutching at straws!

  2. Agree 100% with Dean. Poor posting and one that needs to be ridiculed the same way Sullivan deserved to be after his comments about Austin. If you have nothing worth saying then it is best to stay quiet. Think this applies to DS and the author of this article.

  3. We,ll soon see?? Is it a hamstring??or a cover???.

  4. Hugh, what is this article is supposed to prove ? In an earlier article about Sullivan you suggested that his remarks seemed to be harmless… Austin didn’t get a move and there was no interest in him afterwards so that’s a questionable view point because his stock seemed to go through the floor following the comments. Now you are making a post saying an acute muscle injury might prove DS point… this is suspected to be a stock injury that any player could get at any stage of their career that might according to your article keep him out for a month, its hardly a case of his legs fallen off because he has no ligaments in it and his career is over is it ?

    • I think it’s called Click Bait – actually while we’re on the subject – I did notice that thegamesgonecrazy disappeared around about the same time as the launch of this site – coincidence I think not.

      • Thanks for that blinding bit of info Douche.I will sleep better tonight knowing that.Whats wrong did Hugh nick your wife or Sean ran off with your girlfriend. So much bitterness, sad to see a felllow Irons supporter with so many issues.

        • Have I missed something? It is pure ‘click bait’ and it worked with me when I saw it on NewsNow so you can see the motivation. You have shown rather more bitterness in your comments than the person you aimed it at so as I say am I missing something, for his comments seem rather harmless by comparison.

          • Yes you have missed something Douche only comes on here to put people down or pop at their grammar.Keep up with the script Sky,lol. You work it out,why is he called Douche!!

  5. Working on this principal then Sullivan must have made a right cock up in signing Ogbonna,he has done his hamstring.I guess he must he a terrible signing then 😀

  6. Why are we even discussing this, the geezer plays (or doesn’t as it looks like) for QPR. Let it go.

  7. Why has no other club gone in for him? His price tag? I am sure Villa or Newcastle could have used him.

  8. Mountdouchbag you are back, found something to have a pop at our site again,
Was not going to post when I read it because sorry Hugh you have dropped your standard with this one,
Austin did nothing to get the stick he has received,OPR put the silly price on his head and if he had been £8 million he would probably be in our treatment room now,
I had to have a look when I saw there were 8 hits, and most have been right in there feelings,
This will not help to keep the harmony with the fans not that I care,
Glad you see yourself as Click Bait and not Chick Bait Douch

  9. He still wasnt picked up by any other prem team tho was he, and for Chelski or city £15m for another english player on the books is chicken feed.

  10. It always makes me laugh when i see the Austin/Sullivan issue rising its head again.Fair play that Sullivan had an opinion, why shouldnt he be able to air it rightly or wrongly but when we have our own injury disaster zone in the shape of AC i always think i would have been a little shy about going so public about Austin. There again Sully aint exactly shy is he,lol.Austin will be back in the Prem by January, someone will take him,he is a goalscorer.Dont understand why people are so anti him now on the strength of what our sometime trout mouth chairmen said.I reckon he is a proper good striker 😉

  11. Wasn’t it some cobblers about him not having some ligament in his knee or something like that – most players get hamstring problems occasionally – seems a bit of a tenuous link to Sullivan’s misquoted aside!

  12. Don’t care, move on
