Nuno Espirito Santo has certainly lifted the mood since his arrival a few short weeks ago. Gone is the dread of waiting for a team sheet to be published with the same lamentable Potter favourites being named week after week, with the same inevitable result.
In addition it seems finally there is a substitutes bench bristling with young talent that actually makes it onto the pitch – refreshing indeed.
And good news keeps coming as far as West Ham’s young talent is concerned.
ExWHUEmployee delivered a welcome update yesterday on the fitness of young talent George Earthy who has been unlucky since returning from a season-long loan at Bristol City:
He said: “I am pleased to say that the injury to Earthy isn’t as bad as first feared. It’s believed he could be back in action in the next four weeks, although it’s seen as four to six weeks at this stage until the club can be more confident.
“I have spoken with the player and he’s in a positive frame of mind and really excited to be back playing under the new boss.“
First an ankle injury this summer followed by a hamstring injury has kept Earthy out of contention for a chance to impress the new coach. There must be concerns over his long term prospects as he missed the first half of last season with another ankle injury. It is good news, though, for the youngster and for fans who will hope to see Earthy follow his fellow academy graduates Freddie Potts and Callum Marshall, who have both been handed opportunities under the new manager.
