Away Supporters in The Home Crowd At London Stadium

Following the ugly scenes which sadly made the national media in November when Arsenal came visiting London Stadium, West Ham United have published a series of ‘frequently asked questions’ on the club web site, one of which sets out very clearly the ticketing policy and procedure to be followed in the event of ‘away’ fans sitting in non-designated areas. Allegedly Arsenal fans had bought tickets throughout the ‘home’ supporters areas in November, resulting in crowd unrest and ‘scuffles’, as reported in the express.co.uk (“Arsenal, West Ham Fans brawl at London Stadium”)

So it is worth re-iterating the official, written statement of West Ham United on whufc.com is that Only supporters of West Ham United are permitted to buy or use tickets in home areas..Where these supporters are identified, they will be ejected from the stadium by stewards in line with the Club’s ground regulations. This can happen at the security checks, at the turnstiles, or while in the stadium.”

*Where a supporter identifies an away fan in the home stand, there are many ways they can report this. They can: *Report via the match day text messaging service on 83121 by sending the word SUPPORT followed by the message. *Report via X (formerly Twitter). This channel is constantly monitored prior to and during the match. *Report to the nearest steward wearing an orange or yellow jacket.*Go to the nearest information booth to report to a Supporter Liaison Officer.”

To reiterate, away supporters – the club web site makes no mention of whether in away club kit or not – are not permitted in Home areas. Tell the stewards. Use the text number above ( assuming of course you can get a signal or the stadium Wifi working!) And, please, don’t lose your rag.

From the old Bobby Moore Upper to the Billy Bonds' stand these days I've been watching since '03 and a supporter since about 1970.. 'Football is Life' oh yes. Let it raise your spirit but never darken your mood. Life's too short not to enjoy the journey with our Claret and Blue heroes n' villains.

When the club constantly sell tickets to tourists / anyone , this will continue to happen . They offer us crap money for our unused sst and then sell for £80 plus to anyone . If we try and sell to WH fans on FB sites for face value plus a drink, they don’t like it and ban us. What do you expect ??

  • Slim Tim says:

Perhaps West Ham themselves should stop selling tickets in the home end to away fans via P1.
There are little or no checks given when you purchase through them.

  • Bobby says:

But it’s ok for hammers fans to sit in the Dagenham end against Millwall in FA cup

Even more sport on match day. Ignore the football and enjoy the sideshow of stewards acting on my twitter reports. Will I get any medals for my sterling efforts to ensure our elitist attitudes persist? Should I report any new faces just in case?

Where do we go further down the line when we’ve run out of dodgy looking behaviour?

Anyone who doesn’t look like me or cheer when I shout abuse at the opposition?

Does this new game finish inside the stadium or should we carry on outside? Do we report any of the faithful if they are not looking to give strangers a good hiding?

The future is as dark as the present. Maybe even darker.

Come on people – let’s be nice.

  • Wayne says:

Hang on, away fans in the home sections has been happening since……..yes, when we moved in the bowl.

Over 8 years on and it’s still happening which says everything about the way the club isn’t bothered and how our fan base just isn’t big enough for the place week in, week out.

Nobody should be surprised by this at all.

So if the bloke in front pees you off or won’t sit down just report him and get him.slung out??? Really. How about if an innocent foreign tourist ends up.next to you with à foreign shirt on?

Just shows you how this club is really run! Nothing will change until perv and co are outed! Please let it be soon.⚒️⚒️🫧🫧

  • Terry says:

I have experienced this twice when things have turned nasty and both when the opposition have scored first ,Eintract being one and FSBC being the other ,supporters must be kept seperate

  • Morty says:

It seems the clubs ticketing policy needs a total rethink. Also wasn’t there talk of having specific singing areas to help with atmosphere, did anything happen with that? It’s time the stadium became an advantage not a mill stone round the clubs neck

  • Paul says:

Personally, I don’t mind the seat next to me being occasionally occupied by a well-behaved and respectful away fan. I’ve done the same myself a few times when we’ve played away and that was the only way I could get a ticket. I’ve never had a problem but then again I don’t wear colours and I am well-behaved and respectful (just ask my mum).
The problem comes when these fans start celebrating when their team scores

    • bonzosboy says:

we don’t have that problem over here (🇦🇺). we’re quite happy to have the supporters sit wherever the f**k they like, have some great bants, share beers and get along with each other. fortunately, were not instilled with centuries of an insular thuggish culture and air of superiority that you lot seem to be lumbered with. the Indians are only too happy to play along with us and they can cheer whenever they like and we just cop it on the chin if they win. get over yourself.

  • Paul says:

Me too. And tourists who buy hotel/sports packages.
Bring back Upton Park. Too late?

  • James says:

It’s the club selling to away fans. The people who sit near me go through the club’s ticket exchange process and I regularly get away fans in their seats.
