Away trip to Croatia in the hands of others

|

Uefa has lifted a ban on away fans attending European club matches from next week however it has left it to local countries, football authorities and local government to specify any COVID restrictions.

In theory, fans will be allowed to attend away games in the Champions League, Europa League and Europa Conference League however, attendance remains subject to national and local government coronavirus restrictions in host countries together with football authority rules.

“Considering the different rules and regulations applicable across the Uefa member association territories, it was decided to leave any decision with regards to spectators to the relevant competent authorities,” Uefa said in a statement.

West Ham are due to travel to Croatia on Thursday 16 September to face Dinamo Zagreb but neither club control whether away fans will be allowed.

The club has been questioned why they have not announced the away tickets with the game next week but The Croatian Football Federation together with the Zagreb local government need to give the go-ahead but West Ham is quietly confident it will get the nod soon. They can’t make an official announcement until Croatian officials give their thumbs up.

To be allowed entry into Croatia, all travellers from the UK regardless of their vaccination status must present either a negative COVID-19 antigen test, which must not be older than 48 hours, or a negative PCR test, no older than 72 hours on arrival.

You will need to complete an online entry form before you travel to Croatia. You should carry a copy of your accommodation booking.

Should away fans be given the nod in Croatian the Hammers should get a 5% allocation of tickets. As Dinamo Zagreb’s  Stadion Maksimir has a capacity of 35.123 it means the minimum away allocation will be 1,756.
