Swansea boy John Hartson has told Claret and Hugh West Ham’s record signing Andre Ayew is worth about “half of the £20 milion fee the club paid for him.”
Speaking exclusively to the site Hartson said: “Personally I think the Swans did well. For me Ayew is worth about £10 million!”
Hartson is a regular at the ground of his hometown club and has seen a lot of Ayew and said: “He’s certainly not going to come in and get you 20 goals – that’s a certainty.
“He’s a good player – a creator really – but West Ham have very high quality creatve pliayers and need an out and out striker. They need Andy Carroll back!
“The transfer market has gone crazy of course and Swansea knew West Ham were desperate so they could ask more or less what they wanted. They did very well – it was a good deal for Swansea.
“I’m not being disrespectful to Andre and he will be a good player for the Irons I’m sure but he’s not £20 million in my book even with the inflation that’s gone on in the market. £10 million for me!”
Sorry but i aint having it.Not when you consider Villa shelled out for McCormack & Kodja at what could be 15 million a piece with all monies paid in full.Its all realative.Ok we may of paid over the top but he is more than a 10 million player in this day & age.

Dwight Gayle moved from Palace to Newcastle for 10 million & he wasnt even a regular starter at Palace.Are you telling me that he is on a par with Ayew.Bullsh#t that is.
In fact towards the end of last season, Swansea played him up top,and he got a decent return .But i do agree with big john,he’s more of a second striker,a modern no.10.But an all important option. COYI
Yeah you are right Baddow i appreciate he isnt an out & out striker but when you look at the price tags of some of the players moving from championship club to championship club then marking him down as a 10 mill player is wrong imo 😉
Ayew , very probably was carrying the injury before he signed for West Ham . Swansea were very shrewd and we fell for it . One knock on his debut and he’s out for two months with a thigh strain ; please . He was crocked before he started and covered it up . A complete waste of 20 million quid . The question is and should be : why ? , did so many promised signings fall through . Ayew has a lot to prove if and when he returns .
