Reports in Brazil claim that Flamengo are tracking West Ham defender Fabian Balbuena should he become available on a free transfer.

Balbuena’s contract with the Hammers runs out in June of nest year and journalist Jorge Nicola covers the story in a Youtube video today.

He mentions that the Hammers defender has been in good form with a regular starting place then concedes that West Ham are expected to offer him a new contract.

Balbuena is thought to earn around £38,000 per week at West Ham and that could be a challenge for Flamengo to afford his salary.

According to his sources, the Brazilian club are currently focused on other defensive priorities for now but are monitoring the Balbuena situation in case he doesn’t agree to a new deal with West Ham by spring next year.

Balbuena signed from Brazilian club Sport Club Corinthians Paulista in summer of 2018 for a bargain £3.6m.
