Barkley link resurfaces

West Ham are being reported as holding an interest in Ross Barkley this summer as a potential alternative to Jesse Lingard.

90min reports that David Moyes is interested in a reunion with the Chelsea man, who spent last season on loan at Aston Villa.

Villa opted against bringing the playmaker into the club on a permanent deal and he has subsequently returned to Chelsea, where his future is unclear.

90min claims that the Blues have told him he can leave and that has led to talks between the two clubs.

Everton and Newcastle are also interested in signing Barkley this summer and we have reported previously that the main alternative being eyed at this point is West Brom star Matheus Pereira.

The Irons have been in negotiations with the Baggies over a deal but they are yet to progress to a formal bid or anything of that nature.

Barkley would be some way down the list of potential alternatives to Lingard, though it does seem that a deal for the Manchester United star is increasingly unlikely.

  1. If so think as a club last years promise to push on rapidly fading.unless top signings made soon I honestly think we could struggle. Not because of some of the players we have now but lack of numbers and the signs lack of signings is sending out. It is becoming a shambles. Now I hear weve bid- supposedly- 13 mill after a 6 mill bid for johnstone earlier which woke everyone else up. Honestly starting to despair.

  2. Barclay had a dreadful season. Doesn’t try. Don’t do it.

  3. He did have a shocking season but there is still a good player in there that Moyes may be able to get the best out of.
