West Ham may not sign Ross Barkley this summer, because he’s being linked elsewhere in the Premier League!
The attacking midfielder is continually linked with a move to the Hammers because of his association with manager David Moyes, having played for Everton during his time as manager.
However, The Athletic now reports that Newcastle United hold an interest in snaffling him away from Chelsea, where he has become a bit-part player at best.
Barkley spent last season on loan at Aston Villa and has barely had an opportunity to prove his worth at Stamford Bridge.
Indeed, while he played 27 times in the Premier League in 2018/19, his playing time has slowly diminished since then, to the point where he was viewed as an expendable asset when he was sent on loan to Villa.
Newcastle want to sign Joe Willock, who spent last season on loan at the club, but they are said to be eyeing Barkley as a potential alternative, along with Conor Gallagher, who also plays for Chelsea.
That might be a bullet dodged for the Irons…
