Barton’s Giroud for Hammers prophecy way off target

|

Olivier-Giroud1West Ham have flatly denied new claims that Olivier Giroud is set to join West Ham.

America’s Fox News pundit – former Wimbledon and Newcastle defender Warren Barton – told viewers that the Gunners striker was definitely on his way to east London.

Sadly, however, as we suspected it simply isn’t true with a top source telling ClaretandHugh: “We wanted him but he won’t be coming.”

Giroud himself has hinted heavily that he is set to extend his stay in north London anyway and it would have taken a giant leap of faith to take Barton at his word.

Once his words were spoken we contacted our best source at the club who immediately made it clear he was no longer in the Irons frame.

He said: “The club wanted him before they signed Hernandes but Giroud made it pretty clear the Hammers were not his first choice.

The odds are he will stay at Arsenal but if he leaves – and it’s a big if – it looks likely he could end up at Everton.
