West Ham’s record Premier League goalscorer Michail Antonio is training with Brentford with a view to earning a contract.
The news was revealed by Hammers ITK ExWHUEmployee, who confirmed that Antonio has now cut all ties with West Ham.
The 35-year-old had continued to train and use the club’s Rush Green facilities despite not having his contract renewed at the end of last season. Antonio has made remarkable progress since his horror car crash last December and has even featured twice for West Ham’s Under-21 team this season.
Antonio Eyes Premier League Return
It is believed that club bosses offered Antonio a pay-as-you-play deal for the current campaign, which he rejected. However, it appeared to be a case of no hard feelings, as he continued to train and rehabilitate at the Irons’ gym and training ground.
Now, he is training with Premier League side Brentford as he bids to make a top-flight comeback. If he manages to pull it off, it will mark a remarkable recovery for a player who wasn’t sure he’d walk again last December. At his best, Antonio-nicknamed the beast-is an absolute monster of a player. That said, another Hammers contract considering the age of the clubs current strike force was probably no the wisest move.
Good luck, Mikey.

Over the last few years there seems to be a direct correlation between West Ham team performance and the decline of Mikeys career. We need another Antonio, Best of luck to him he was brilliant at his best.
“However, it appeared to be a case of no hard feelings, as he continued to train and rehabilitate at the Irons’ gym and training ground.”
Wouldn’t say that was really the case. Can’t remember exactly where he said it (was either a podcast or punditry thing, I’m sure) but he publicly slagged West Ham off by complaining about how “there’s no loyalty in football” and you’re “just a piece of meat” to the teams.
Remember finding it pretty rich considering (as stated) we let him not only use our training facilities but also allowed him to work on match fitness as he looked for a new club while, realistically, we had no reason to do either.
Add in the fact he was injured because he crashed his car (yet again) and reportedly turned down a new deal because he was asking for not only a longer term contract but also more money than he was being offered and just lost all sympathy for the guy.
