There’s been plenty of moans from some Hammers fans about the lack of quality in our performance against Villa and David Moyes was pretty cheesed off with it too.

And yes, ok, we weren’t great against a Villa team which was a mix of the good, the bad and the ugly – plus cheater Grealish and his couldn’t care less boss Smith.

However, let’s get something straight – Villa have shown themselves to be a much better team on the road than they are at Villa Park.

Before meeting us they had beaten Fulham at Craven Cottage 3-0, Leicester at the King Power Stadium 1-0 and Arsenal at the Emirates 3-0.

So despite out average performance we became the first team to put goals past them away from home whilst rising above them and into a fifth place.

Nose bleed territory.

It could have all been very different of course but on a night of three very decent goals- whilst we were less than mediocre – I see the result as very acceptable.

We are not gonna be great every week but there’s more to it than that and very tricky games against Sheffield United and the cheaters – sorry Villa – have shown us this really is a new West Ham.

Personally, I am not in the mood for a moan up – just show me the points lads.

  1. Very good article. I definitely love this site. Thanks!

  2. So pleased we beat Villa and even better that we had some good luck for a change – we have lost plenty of points to VAR decisions last season and against Arsenal this season. What was really jubbly was to see Grealish the diver lose. With a proper ref he would have been sent off.
