Benny breaks duck to raise Moyes hopes

Said Benrahama finally broke his duck yesterday by scoring his first – and quite brilliant – goal for West Ham.

It may only have salvaged the point against Brighton rather than secure an important win but it was a major step for the Algerian Hammer.

Goals build on confidence and hopefully, this first goal opens the flood gates on many more to come.

That’s been the view of those who have come down on the side of the former Brentford ace.

It should also go a long way to dispel the conspiracy theory that Benrahma was not a David Moyes pick and he didn’t really want him.

However, the boss chose his words carefully when discussing the goal after the game rather than offering lavish praise simply saying: “We have been waiting on a goal and we got one tonight.

We brought him in with that in mind and I am glad he has got that first goal and hopefully he will go on and get a lot more.”

Benrahama hopefully has a great West Ham future ahead of him and has just taken the majority of the season to adjust to the Premier League but he seems to now to be coming into his best form.

Moyes protected Jarrod Bowen in the same way and levelled the same criticism at him, some players respond to that type of feedback.

Next season will undoubtedly be a massive season for Benrahama to make his mark.

  1. Hopefully he can keep producing because Bowen has dropped off a cliff.
Someone needs to tell Bowen which way is forward, at least Benrahma tries to make things happen.
Also Dawson’s form has dropped off a cliff the day after he signed.Newcastle, Everton and yesterday, his lack of pace is frightening.
I think we can see why the top teams have big squads, unfortunately we’ve run out of legs at the end.
Hopefully we can raise it for the last two games.

  2. Both Moyes and Bentahma need to give attention to their attitudes and performances.
    – Said B needs to up his passes, and goalscoring.
    – Moyes needs to stop his public downing of Said B. The other culprits worse than Ben are Lingaard, Antonio and Bowen who were super-bad again. Yet no chastising from the manager.
Moyes should also look at his player development attention, as well as considering the und23 players in the squad. We sit with the und23 centre forward in our squad, who has more goals under his belt than some 1st team players, yet Moyes dont play him. The other good ones also wait their turn, or are out on loan ???
Welcome back old West Ham. See you are still very much alive. Coyi. God bless West Ham.
