Benrahama update: It’s the final countdown

West Ham expect a conclusion to the Said Benrahma transfer saga within 24 hours.

Intensive final negotiations are continuing between the two clubs after a series of offers have been made – one including a previously hitherto unheard of extra.

We have learned that the club initially offered to pay Brentford a straight £8 million rather than a sell on percentage should the player ever be sold were he to become a West Ham player.

That was rejected by Brentford who continue to drive a hard bargain on the Algerian but the Hammers are now determined to settle things one way or the other hopefully by this time tomorrow (Thursday).

Brentford are in a position to drive a tough deal as they trade players and have already cashed in big time on striker Ollie Watkins who joined his former Bees boss Dean Smith at Aston Villa at around £31 million.

The Hammers have now offered £25m plus £5m of addons and are now in the last stages of negotiations.

  1. Hopefully at this rate he should be signed in time to play over the Christmas period!

  2. Sullivan’s barrow boy negotiating style is simply inadequate for modern high-value negotiations & frequently fails to clinch deals before allowing competitors to seize our long drawn out opportunities!

Coupled with Moyes renowned dithering when buying players West Ham’s penny-pinching transfer policy has become a public embarrassment.

With the lowest net spend in the PL Season Ticket Holders deserve much better management to avoid persistent Transfer Policy disasters.

Also, Hammers need to sign either Henry or Manning at left-back & a proven PL Quality Center Back NOW!

Get on with it tonight not until the last minute when failures cannot be remedied!

    • Well John, sounds like you’re criticising the negotiating style of Sullivan for not getting deals done or having other clubs jump in a steal a deal from West Ham before they complete it…?
IMHO & recollection, West Ham have a long, long, oh so very long history of being ‘in negotiations’ for players that ultimately end up elsewhere…. that’s just the nature of the business and agents are out to get their players the best deal, so when a deal is provisionally agreed, the other clubs are aware of the ‘real’ price of the player.

This is not a Sullivan (Of Gold) phenomenon, it’s called being in a league where multi-billionaires fund their play toys to keep themselves amused….

  3. We’re actually not paying that much more than we received for Diangana if you don’t include all the add on fees. Also includes an 8 million sell on clause put in by Brentford to resolve the dispute between player and Brentford over broken promises. Brentford will capitalise from that if West Ham ever resell the player at a later date.

  4. Did make me chuckle..8 million offered up front of 30mill …no wonder deals take so long to conclude …let’s hope we get it done before someone comes in and gazumps us as per norm ..

  5. Bit behind with news people! Ex has updated the whole situation .
