Benrahma £30m…Lingard £20m – it’s a no brainer signing

We can now see so  why Jesse Lingard must be bought this summer.

His absence from the Hammers side at old Trafford tonight was the major contribution to our defeat assuming that you ignore the negative tactics and selected starting 11.

Lingard carries the ball so well – drives the team forward, is a quality Premier League player, scores goals a and former international.

Instead when Said Benrahma who eventually came on in a bid to make things happen in his absence – and why so late anyway – there was little comparison to be made between the two of them.

We paid £30 million for the former Brentford player and Manchester United apparently want £20 million for  Lingard so to use the vernacular: “What’s that all about?

I have no doubt that with Jesse returning for the next three games we are gonna have an offensive approach which will continue to see us battling at the top of the League.

That he has created such an impression so quickly and that he claims to love being here it’s a deal which has to happen.

And tonight showed precisely why!

  1. Benrahma if you care to watch him is actually technically a better player than lingard. Watch those to combine when playing together it’s really top class. Problem is Moyes who has done well but not a long term coach for us as he showed once again he has no idea how to beat manure after the last disastrous game played against them he goes in the first half and plays negative football once again. Noble really are you stupid or what? Showed second half how we should have played the whole match . Sorry give Moyes one year after this season then let’s get in a positive progressive coach and play entertaining football the west ham way that Moyes allardyce wouldn’t understand . Imo

  2. nothing to do with lingard, tactics were wrong , selection was far too defensive and things were changed far too late , with regard to benrahma hes not played enough premiership football yet and no run in team either, the best is yet to come, why not sign them both.

  3. Stop blaming Benrahma for the loss, blame toothless attack that was put on by Moyes, Benrahma cost £20 million plus adds on not £30 million as mentioned and under a very good coach like Thomas Frank at Brentford who has faith in him he would have excelled.
Lingard is a good player cert, but pls don’t make him like his the messiah sent to West ham to be saved.

  4. Thought Benrahma was far more positive in his own ability when he came on… Looked enterprising… Will develop into a massive player for us🤞🤞No Fornals didn’t help either… Unfortunately Johnson struggled again but is still so young… Noble… Not for me ever… (unless maybe, just maybe he only sits in front of the 2 centre halves and doesn’t run around like a headless chicken..allowing Soucek and Rice to be more positive.. . Should never have had his contract extended imho… Sentiments shouldn’t come into these type of decision) We have to move on with younger players… 2/3 quality players for next year.. at the very minimum…. Soucek looks absolutely “shattered” at times… Antonio tries hard but need a proper quality number 9…asap.

  5. Hugh you are so wrong Lingard has been great but he also
has not been so great, the 2 goals he scored on his debut the keeper should have saved at least one of them, how unfair of you to make a comparison like that, the only reason we lost was because we didn’t take the game to them, Benrama should have been on from the start he is our most technically gifted player a bit rough around the edges that’s all, Moyes got it wrong again against a top team we would have never troubled them with that line up, I’m afraid let’s hope he learns from it. He has done a great job but we all mess up occasionally Moyes messed up.

    • Understand your points mate but JL really does take game to teams

    • Don’t blame said benrahma good player every time he comes in changing the game the manager you should play him full game every time the manager in don’t trust him it’s saying it’s not ready you should give him his chest to play football I don’t understand you bye player and you keep him and the bench

  6. I am not convinced by Benrahma and when we took him it meant the money was not going on an out and out forward or LB.

  7. As much as I like Benrahma, I think it was the wrong purchase. We needed a striker, even with the Lingard loan. Although the right one maybe wasn’t available, the money could have been banked as it seems clear to me Benrahma is NOT a Moyes type of player. He’ll coach the flare out of him.

My concern with Lingard is will he want to come to a team who isn’t going to challenge for honours if a team that will comes in for him in the summer, ie a Champions League-playing Leicester? We’ll see, I guess.
