Benrahma contract doubts: the truth

Said Benrahma is booked for a four year stay at West Ham despite the slow start that’s thrown doubts over the player’s likelihood to remain at the club beyond one season.

Speculation that there may be a clause in his contract which means he must play a certain number of games to fulfil the Irons’ obligation to buy  is false.

The only issue that could thwart a long term deal is the completion of his summer medical which saw him  needing to take new blood tests.

The player himself spoke several weeks ago claiming there would be no problem and we understand that things are looking good on that front and that he is all set to remain at the London Stadium.

That he has been unable to nail down a permanent place is down to the manager insisting that he will need time to adjust and that among the areas of the game he has to work on is ball retention.

There had been rumours doing the rounds that the manager wasn’t the player’s biggest admirer but the reality is that once the medical is successfully completed the Algerian will sign permanently at a £25 million plus £5 million in extras.

  1. I keep hearing about Benrahma needing to improve his ball retention skills, but they are no worse than Haller’s, and Haller plays regularly and produces very little. At least Benrahma runs, attacks, and tries hard. With Haller you feel he is just there waiting for a bus. He was far too expensive for what he contributes..

  2. If true very pleased as his quality player shame we couldn’t get eze too from QPR but hey that’s life. Looking forward to a left back and another striker maybe two if haller sold and mid defensive as noble takes up coaching . Keeper needed end of season long term too . Hoping alves works out and don’t waste money unless on a free with king at 10k wanted at 30yrs old way over the odds and better by far out there.

  3. If Haller was waiting for a bus, he’d still miss it.
At least this kid really tried, works hard and appears eager to do his best.
