Better late than never for Irons new boy

It was very much a case of better late than never for Said Benrahma  at Anfield/.

The loan signing was given six minutes at the end of the game after appearing in the 89th for a game which stretched to 95.

Despite barely getting a touch the 25 year old was  delighted to don the claret and blue for the first time.

The Algerian wrote on Twitter “I’m glad I got the opportunity to play my first minutes with West Ham, but disappointed by the result. I’m sure we’ll be back stronger next week against Fulham”

Manager David Moyes seems to be following the Jarrod Bowen model of introducing Said to West Ham first team.

Bowen’s debut came 19 days after he signed against Manchester City but only for ten minutes as an 80th-minute substitute.

His second game was five days later against Liverpool but only had six minutes on the pitch at the end of the game.

Late February he started against Southampton but was substituted off in the 78th minute during the final game before lockdown.

Bowen had to wait until 20th June to get his first full ninety-minute game against Wolves and the rest, as they say, is history.
