Benrahma way clear to join Irons but King could get nod

ClaretandHugh has learned over the last few minutes that Said Benrahma’s way has now ben cleared to move on to West Ham after his issues with Brentford were cleared up earlier today (Tues).

The player dubbed the “Algerian Messi” was reported across the media as being unhappy with “broken promises” at the Bees and although details have been withheld, it was those that were stopping his move to West Ham.

Now, however, a source close to Brentford has revealed to us that the problem has been solved and that the Hammers are in a better position to now make the deal happen which is believed to be in the region of £30 million.

We understand that the upfront fee would be around £18 million with various add ons and it’s now simply a case of David Moyes and David Sullivan deciding whether they will proceed with that deal or instead move for Bournemouth’s Josh King.

We and others have already reported that the manager is more attracted to signing the experienced Bournemouth player.

We reported yesterday that he would want a substantial wage to join the Hammers which had the potential to cause problems among other top-earning Hammers stars.

However, the club could take the view that given the difference in fees for him (£18 million) and £30 million for the Brentford winger they could give the 28-year-old central striker sensible wages which would cause no unrest.

The club has no intention of upsetting its star players and can see that there is a deal there to be done.

Ideally, it would be great to get both players but one of the other is far more likely and Moyes and the board now look to have a choice to make.

  1. I know we kind of need a striker more, but would rather have Benrahma. I really think King will be yet another crock flop on mega wages.

  2. I hope i am wrong but this could lead to one big cock up.
We could buy Benrahma but instead go for king which ends up with him going to another club.
End result we end up with zilch!

  3. OK so Benrahmi will cost more money but I suspect on less wages than King is muttering about. King also is 28 and Said is 24. 2points King you will get maybe 2 or 3 years out of him, with very little sell on value. Sai is the opposite. I wonder too, why if King thinks he’s that good why has he spent so long at Bournemouth? I know which way I’d go.

  4. Has to be benrahma very time way better than kings overpriced no sell on money and 28yrs old wanting ridiculous wages. Jog on we don’t ñeed king as we have cover in haller up front and Jan not long away to get in any other players that are quality and nor Dawson cheap wasted loan deals that have been relegated due to those type players

  5. Crazy that people think we need a striker when we have 45 million pound man Haller sat on the bench. Benrahma though would enable fornals to take on the attacking midfield role for which he’s probably best suited. It would mean the end of Noble in that role probably but im sure nobes realises he’s not going to play every game by default from now on.

  6. Benrahma will definitely bring quality and punch to the forward line which is missing right now .
No comparison to be made : Said all the way and by a mile !!

    • It amazes me how King is practically begging any PL club to rescue him. We throw him a lifeline then he demands almost double the wage he was previously on with Bournmouth??

  7. Are we going to bother getting a midfielder? We desperately need one.

  8. It really is who you prefer. SB is the more technical and provides more value. King is more versatile, harder working and is 4 inches taller. It matters to some people?

Can’t believe JK is expecting 130k. I don’t see anyone paying him that. Not even on a free transfer. I googled his wages and he apparently earns 45k at Bourmouth. 65k should be a fair wage. Man United or any other top club will not be coming in for him any time soon. I think we have a more balanced team with JK as he can play CF or wing. I haven’t watch either enough but the popular opinion seems to be he works harder and is more likely to help out the defence?

Just noticed another article accusing DM of dithering. Why has the SB deal been perused f the manager wants JK? If SB is a Sully choice I get how he appears better value. I won’t be surprised if we don’t sign either.

    • I’d prefer Benrahma bc age & is more the Payet battle would add those goal from range, break down defences, dribble through opposition & create a lot of chances.
Think I read he wants £60k which he is on £12k now & we have Bowen £60k so not too bad. £17-18m for King with 8mo seems a lot especially since he seems to want European football too but Bournemouth need his £45k wages off. Benrahma makes more sense long term & to what Moyes has talked about buying young hungry players but King is definitely more a Moyes player with PL experience & taller. Interesting stat I read in last 3 seasons when he did play up front as CF 33 times he scored 23 times. But ha shifted on wing a lot too help out Bournemouth but apparently he wants to lead the line & tho he scores a lot of Pens too it seems he would be more successful leading the line. But with Haller & Antonio then King would be cover making Benrahma make more sense imo as inverted winger & Alos allow Fornals to play CM when needed too.
