Benrahma’s last appearance?

There are many reports out there right now that Said Benrahma has made his last appearance in a claret and blue shirt. Many would like to believe that’s true given his less than average form this season and his dreadful red card at Bristol City. But the reality is there is no sign of it happening currently.

Reports that he is of interest to Marseilles, other Ligue One clubs and even a return to Brentford have been denied by Claret and Hugh‘s contacts and sources but there is definitely a desire to see the Algeria international on his way as was indicated when we asked whether there had been any enquries.

We were told that not one had been received or indeed and interest registered by clubs although the comments was preceded by the word “Unfortunately” which spoke volumes.

His sending off against Bristol City was awful of course but to use it as an excuse for defeat is probably wrong because whilst it didn’t help, the reality is that the Championship side failed to score when he was off the pitch.

His decision to kick out at Joe Williams after a hefty challenge was seriously unprofessional and means that he will miss three games. Mind you I can’t believe the manager being the man he is will be keen to offer him a place in the team unless there is an emergency but “played his last game” I doubt it.
