Bernard update

Italian journalist Alfredo Pedulla has reported that Brazilian free agent Bernard has chosen to reject West Ham’s offer & will  instead listen to mega money offers from China.

However, other reports suggest negotiations are still ongoing with an offer of a four year contract at £110,000 per week on the table.

On Friday club insiders told C&H that the manager was ‘thinking about it’ and deciding whether he could also fulfil the role of backup striker as well as a Lanzini type role.

There was real interest in Bernard back in June when West Ham were quoted £200,000 per week wages and a £15m combined signing on and agent fee.

It remains to be seen how serious the Hammers really are on this signing but if they sign Lucas Perez as rumoured  surely the Bernard deal will be dead and buried once more.

  1. For us to go to the next level this is the signing we need. I believe a player who can play as a 10 is a must to sign over the next few days. Whatever it takes we need to sign a player like this. We actually need a 10 more urgently than a 9 (we have Arnie, Hernandez and Antonio). This lad is a top player. I am shocked we have not signed a number 10 before this. Anderson was signed to play as a winger and not a 10.

  2. chicarito or marega
    bernard or antonio
ed fernandez and obiang or andre gomez
    cresswell.masuraku or laxit
    the list is longer.
i think west ham are prepared for any bids that come in for our players, with replacements lined up. could be an interesting week……

  3. Agree this guy has potential to take us to next level I think there must be a lot more in it than just salary, as a free agent pay him £150k a week if we have too, its £30m on a 4 year contract for a world class talent, I would have paid the 200k £40m for a world class talent, transfer fee and wages, pays for himself with goals and assists based on his history.

  4. Sounds to me like a) he might just want the maximum cash he can trouser, so China looks likely;, and b) there’s a lot of agent’s fees here replacing the transfer fee. So instead of being a good value free, he could end up being pretty expensive.

    • Maybe Demon, the question is what is he worth in the transfer market and how many positions can he push us up the table, if he can take us from 10th to 6th for example guaranteed Europa League, if he also improves the brand of the club and the style of the football we can play, we need xfactor to break into the top 6 he certainly has that ability, according to sky we have called off the deal on Brahimi even though us and his club had agreed a transfer fee, which is why I think this one could happen, maybe after crunching the numbers it works out more cost effective to get Bernard ? Reports are we are also about to sign Benfica young player Joao Felix one for the future and we are trying to sign two other players from Porto Marega and Danilo Periera aswell as a kid from Club Brugge called Marvelous Nakumba who looks decent although he is coming back from an injury, overall exciting times and the window looks like it is set to keep giving 🙂
