The transfer of James Ward-Prowse to Nottingham Forest makes sense for all involved.
Last season’s £25 million signing from Southampton has done nothing wrong and everything right during his twelve months at the London Stadium. However, he now finds himself in a situation where he will have to play second fiddle to almost every other midfielder in the Hammers’ squad, and quite frankly, he’s better than that.
JWP is an expert at taking set pieces, and everyone knows he will give 100% whenever selected. Unfortunately for the former England international, he doesn’t seem to possess the necessary skills to be effective in Julen Lopetegui’s team, particularly from open play.
In many respects, West Ham’s new tactics do not utilise Ward-Prowse’s attributes, nor do they provide him with a position from which he can thrive during open play. Edson Álvarez, Guido Rodríguez, Lucas Paquetá, and Tomáš Souček are all ahead of him in the Hammers’ pecking order, and his substitution against Bournemouth in the Carabao Cup was probably the final straw.
JWP has an excellent opportunity to flourish at Nottingham Forest, and a 12-month loan deal should hopefully prevent his value from depreciating further.
Everyone at West Ham speaks positively about Ward-Prowse’s character, and I am quite certain he will thrive and hopefully break the Premier League free-kick record he has been chasing for so long.
Sad in many ways to see him leave, time will tell if the decision was right or not , I have a feeling he’ll be back next year under a new/ different Coach / Manager
You could be right, who knows. Present situation has the feel of Pellegrini scenario.
Wish J-Lo all the luck in the world, but not counting any chickens.
Why can’t you just read the comments anymore? Unless they’re after the 812,346 adverts?
It’s to much like hard work gang?????
Moaning finished, best transfer I can remember and if Soler signs today, well I’ll be speechless.

Hey Fisky!
Do you read C&H on your mobile or a tablet?
I have noticed that reading on my mobile doesn’t have the ads between the article and comments, but does on my tablet.
I use my mobile and the adds are always there in their thousands sometimes supplemented with pop-up adds that get in the way when adding a comment.
Not long ago you could read the comments without having to tap the comment button. That was nice but unfortunately gone.
Download the Brave browser from the app store. I see hardly any ads when using C&H.
Hard to read or comment now with all the adverts on my mobile. Serious lag problem and ad blocker doesn’t work.
I’m using an iPhone and adblocker doesn’t work for some reason.
I think we have a lot of good players on the pitch. We have Emerson, who runs up and down the line all the time, and James [Ward-Prowse], who has the best set pieces in the world. I’m very excited for the season ahead.
