West Ham striker Niclas Füllkrug is unlikely to feature in the upcoming Everton match, according to the latest insider reports. This morning, Claret & Hugh spoke to a top source at the London Stadium about the German forward’s readiness to face David Moyes’ side this weekend. Unfortunately, the fixture looks set to come too soon, with the former Borussia Dortmund star expected to return after the international break.
That means his next likely appearance for West Ham will be against Wolves at the start of April. The source added, “It’s not an exact science, but Füllkrug will definitely be back before Summerville and is making good progress. It looks likely to be after the international break.”
Sitting this one out is probably no bad thing for the big striker. If the £27m summer signing were to return ahead of Evan Ferguson getting a proper chance, questions would inevitably be asked.
Füllkrug looked excellent in the 13 minutes he played under Graham Potter before suffering his injury against Aston Villa. His return will be a major boost for the West Ham manager, whose side have been short of attacking threat and are crying out for a striker to spearhead the attack.

From what little we have seen of both the old German bloke gets the nod by some distance. I thought Ferguson might be good but haven’t been particularly impressed so far.
Are we assuming here that Fullkrug represents a better prospect than Ferguson? If so, what is the issue with the 20 year old Ferguson? Did he arrive in such bad shape that 2 months of concentrated effort by someone who was allegedly desperate to get game time, was still not enough to give him an edge over the 32 year old Fullkrug, himself returning from injury (presumably not match fit either) and who doesn’t even want to be here?
