Betway says Sorry to Slav & Antonio

|

West Ham’s shirt sponsor Betway has apologised for a comment on social media when one of their passionate writers on twitter passed comment on Michail Antonnio’s performance as a right back on Monday night against Chelsea. The unknown writer posted “Antonio has been an accident waiting to happen in defence,West Ham fans will hope that’s the end of the experiment.”

It was what all West Ham fans were thinking but I guess the club would be expecting the principle sponsors to tow the party line and not criticise the manager publicly over his selection. The post was retweeted nearly five hundred times and liked by 516 people. Later the betting company apologised saying “We have a team of passionate writer who provide impartial opinion across all sports. Betway acknowledges that this particular tweet is inappropriate in light of our relationship with West Ham United, of which we are extremely proud.  We would like to apologise to Michail, Slaven and the club for any offence caused.”

Sorry

As the old saying goes there no such thing as bad publicly. Well done Betway we were all thinking it!

I don’t know why they need to apologise to Antonio for it. What they said does him a favor

No need for an apology for Antonio, ? It wasn’t a remark aimed at him ! Lol. It was a dig at Bilic and rightly so , let’s see if he plays the bard in his right full place instead of the loan ( tore ) fegouli ? Antonio for me all day long , tore and fegouli need to earn a start ! That’s why we have a squad to cover.
Although tore is a left sided player,
Horses for courses was mentioned the other day , no one in the team has this mans energy
Or commitment in their desired position , payet may be the magician but the bard has his own stage ! And a act worth going to see ! A pleasure to watch , totally unpredictable ! A menace . Let him loose against astra , he will run riot .

But has Slav apologised to Antonio?

Is there concensus that Slav has been wrong about Antonio at RB? That’s how it looks to me. But will Slav actually end the “experiment”? Since when has Slav or DS referred to it as an “experiment”?
Unfortunately, I see the problem as bigger than a cuddle. As a result of the RB “experiment”, I think the squad is a bit unbalanced. I think we need another RB either as cover for Byram. Personally, I’m happy with Byram as 1st choice. I think he’s done a great job, especially considerting he is still young. This was yet one more of the disadvantages of Antonio at RB; preventing a good RB from gaining further experience. I also think, like Antonio, Byram has conducted himself extremely well during what must have been a disappointing time during the “experiment”….Maybe that “experiment” isn’t over….Or maybe Slav won’t even play Antonio…not even subs bench…He turned his back on him during the substitution….
    Well, we’ll see….
(Anyone who reads C+H knows I am personally very upset at the treatment of Antonio: Wasteful folly and mistreating Antonio’s willing and decent nature. Glad to see so many others coming out in favour of Antonio)

I think Antonio deserves a few chants next game, even if not playing!

Why should they apologise for speaking the truth?

I don’t blame Antonio for the balls-up on Monday – Bilic has a blind spot about playing Antonio at right-back and I can’t for the life of me understand his thinking – along with 99% of the West Ham punters I would imagine!

Last year it was clear that getting Antonio to flog up and down the right wing was stupid – although Antonio is very athletic and has outstanding stamina – but why try to flog him to death!

Why not play Byram at right-back? Too simple a solution maybe – but it makes sense to me – but then I’m pretty simple minded!
