Manchester-based media outlets are reporting late this evening that West Ham are lining up an initial transfer bid for Manchester United’s Aaron Wan-Bissaka this week.

Cryptically, the breaking news suggests that it will be West Ham’s ‘first’ bid for the player, who once commanded a £50m transfer fee when signed from Crystal Palace. Therefore, it’s safe to assume that the Hammers expect this transfer to be a protracted one, with multiple bids required to secure the signing of the player.

Whether this news means the end of West Ham’s interest in Southampton right-back Kyle Walker-Peters is unknown. However, don’t rule out a phantom bid being made, as was the case when the club made an offer for Jean-Clair  Todibo in an effort to force through the Max Kilman transfer.

It is believed that Manchester United is keen to hasten the departure of Wan-Bissaka, having submitted an improved offer of £45m plus £5m for Everton defender Jarrad Branthwaite.

I liked Wan Bissaka at Crystal Palace as a teenager. But I thought he was heading to Galatasaray? Or have I got some wires crossed?

  • Kevlar says:

Get both kwp and bissaka as kwp can play left back as well as right back

Low ball offer incoming! but if we do want him and the rumoured price is £13million then an offer of £10million may do it…..personally i’d rather have KWP but we just have to wait and see

Your theory about Kilman and Todibo, is very entertaining, but also very false.
We desperately needed a left footed centre back, and a right footed centre back to replace the dysfunctional pairing from last season.
We got Kilman on the left, the best option available so we’ve done very well so far. Now we really need a right sided centre back, to replace Zouma.
Of course we will need to move on Ageur and Zouma to make sure we can afford get the second one. Todibo is our first choice but he is now more likely to go to Juve instead, so the search goes on.

If ManU are keen to ‘hasten the departure of Wan Bissaka’ then they will be willing to negotiate. Depends if we make a serious, realistic bid.
