Hammers Midfielder : Bids Received

After the influx, so the exodus. West Ham United are now weighing up bids for their ‘invisible man’ signed last year and immediately loaned out to Austrian team Klagenfurt. Scot Andy Irving has impressed in pre-season and looked to have cemented a place in Lopetegui’s plans when he received a squad number.

Bumped down from his first choice ’29’ upon the arrival of Aaron Wan Bissaka, Irving is listed as ’39’ bit may not make it onto th pitch for West Ham as multiple bids have come in for his services.

The Irons will have a decision to make before 30th August when the window closes: Do they ‘stick’ to ‘twist’ with Irving?

Edinburgh News, that well known West Ham source, is reporting that The Irons have been in receipt of multiple bids: Europa League winners Atalanta and Spanish side Espanyol are among those who have made approaches for the former Hearts player. With The Hammers’ newly shaped midfield and indeed with reports of possibly Carlos Soler lurking on the ‘loan to buy’ horizon it is quite possible that Irving can be sold to bank a profit -always useful under PSR – and make way for an experienced world class import.

Difficult one for Lopetegui to call – but he has not shied away from tough decisions to date: I’d guess he will sell the young Scot.

I’d keep him for homegrown quota. Looked out on loan and in pre-season. Surely we can’t sell him without giving him a few chances to see what he’s made of

Without knowing what the bids are it’s hard to have an opinion. I would have thought he’d need some competitive game time to put him in the shop window.

Atalanta would be a great move for him, and I’d actually be sorry to see him go. But if he’d get regular top tier football and wanted to leave…perhaps a loan to buy would suit all parties?
Pretty poor being bumped out of his shirt number. I wouldn’t be having that unless AWB gave me some cash!

Be mad to sell him. Would be great if he counted as homegrown but even not so he’s still a top player with much to show. Think it would be bad patter om the clubs part mot to give him a chance. Other than the number I don’t see how AWB could lessens his chances given they play different positions. We meed ro keep him.and give him this season at least to show us what he’s got.
