Bids rejected for two left backs say reports

|

OlssonReports today suggest West Ham have been rejected in approaches for two left backs. The reliable Ken Dyer writing for the London Evening Standard says “West Ham have had a loan bid for Kieran Gibbs rejected by Arsenal as they search for an experienced left-back to replace the injured Aaron Cresswell.”

“Gibbs, who lost his place in Arsenal’s first team to Nacho Monreal last season, was a prime target but West Ham’s North London rivals have turned down their first bid.”

Dyer adds: “The Hammers may look elsewhere, with Norwich City’s 28-year-old Sweden international Martin Olsson on their radar. Olsson lost a regular place in the Norwich team last season to Republic of Ireland international Robbie Brady”

However Sky Sources reported breaking news just before midday that “Norwich have rejected a £3m bid from West Ham for defender Martin Olsson”

As we reported last Friday, West Ham are ready to launch a bid of around £5m for Hull City left back Andy Robertson. It is likely to prove unsuccessful as Hull value the player around the £10m mark.

West Ham were also interested in Norwich City’s Robbie Brady, the Hammers are said to be prepared to pay up to £8m for the left back but the Canaries are holding out for £12m and refusing to budge.

What is going on with us, where is our imagination. Are we going to the next level as our chairmen have stated or are we going backwards because either of these signings are going backwards. Put a proper bid in for Robbie Brady if you want to prove to us you want to move to the next level. Or at the very least be creative and have a go with someone that has potential. Our transfer business is beginning to sound like panic business, Ayew, Gomes, Olsen, benteke it is really disappointing. Our approach last season was correct, identify players with terrific potential, we have lost this completely in my opinion if we are putting in bids for these sort of players. Lets buy Olsen, is he good enough to even play in Europa or League cups, imo I would prefer to see us signing top quality like Brady. He will deliver and get even more out of Cresswell. Brady can also play CM, wide right or left.

What disappoints me the most Johnham is that you sound like an expert on players but still think Valencia is a good player lol hmmmm 🙂

    • West Ham Fan No 32 says:

Ant Johnham isn’t the only fan that thinks Valencia is a good player, he is not a left winger though which is where Slav plays him, imo he is one of our hardest working players, if ref’s awarded him all the fouls he should get then people might have a different opinion on his value to the team, his set piece plays are also good and he is probably the quickest player in our team which helps us when he runs the ball out of defence, if we sell him we will miss him but it seems that is likely to be the case, for his sake I hope he moves to Spain where he would be better appreciated and no doubt a lot more successful 🙂

Sean do you know if the rumours are true that we are also activating Idrissa Gueye’s release clause ?

  • johnham1 says:

Antman, I just believe Valencia has been played out of position to accomadate AC as AC can only play up top due to his lack of pace. I agree he has not delivered but I believe if he is given a chance I think he could. Just my opinion – so I have sympathy for him and perhaps that is a fault of mine.

  • Antman says:

Fair do’s Johnham,i was only pulling your leg lol

I definitely think we should go all out on Andy Robertson. Great player already with great potential. Would be a steal even at 10 mil

The problem I see with getting in a big money LB is what happens when Aaron is back.Neither of them are going to be happy sat on the bench. They will both feel they are of premier league regular starting place calibre.Surely we should be looking for a reliable fall back option.Someone like Enrique. Not my personal preference but someone of that level.

Well ok you two ; differences of opinion are proof we care about our club .
I would someone to explain the Sakho problem . Tell us why there is one anyway .
If the man management skills are so good then why hasn’t the problem been solved not been persuaded to stay and sign up . He the best thing since sliced bread when he joined us ffs . Still think Valencia can do a job . I know more than a few will disagree ,but there it is.
Seems odd that everybody is slamming the door in our faces .. Very odd . Obviously don’t want to see us being successful , what with the OS and all . Shouting so loud about signing a marquee striker has’nt helped much either . Would have been better to keep stoom on that one.
The window is open though , for the moment . Just as well cos things ain’t looking too good right now . Having a problem to understand all the loan deals . Seems like lack of ambition to me and breaking half hearted promises . Hope I’m proved wrong within the next two weeks . Still keeping the faith with the Dave’s , but there’re stretching it .

Love you’re and others stance on Valencia Kevin but as much as I like him he’s just to lightweight ! Imo,And he’s not clinical in front of goal ! With you on sakho though , would hate to see WBA get the benefit from no more injury’s , obviously like carol or any pro , you don’t know when its coming , look at cresswell !! On cresswell ,if we do get a top player to replace him and cresswell can’t get back in the side , who in their right mind is going to disapprove !
No one is the answer , this is west ham ffs not a cresswell appreciation society ,
cresswell would have to play his way and earn a recall if we are to go forward and challenge the top bods,
And if he didn’t like it , he could do a sakho ! Lol.
The quicker they sign a couple of full backs the better , and a c/h , top dollar ,if poss ,
    Tick fekin tock. !

  • Antman says:

What are you on about John.A Cresswell Appreciation Society?? Has anyone said that.No.

    • johnboy says:

      Ain’t it ???
Open ya fekin eyes , and agree or disagree , make a statement so we can pick it apart as a few like doing on here lately !! You included !

      • Antman says:

Oh stop swearing.I asked a simple question because I don’t see any appreciation society.I have been on here a while now & don’t tear apart everything you say so dont give me that rubbish.Never fear though,i shall no longer reply to or question anything you say.It ain’t worth some foul mouth response for a start. There are plenty of other lads who dont swear every time you disagree or ask them a question.

Olson did not want to come before so why would he now knowing he has 3 months before becoming a second choice,
Robertson the same we chose Cressie over him before, why don’t we just go get a player that won’t say no or pay Enrique his £70K per week for 1 year as he is a freebie
Rico Henry would be a 2 Daves bargain with money back if he does not work out,
The Swede would come for a couple of Mil more and at 22 £7 million would be a steel,
But Page or Reid will fill in and we will be told there’s is nothing we could have done,
Hendrie should never have been allowed to leave until cover was found or give Page his chance and let’s find out how good he is,
Can’t be any worse then Antonio as a full back,
All this fluffing about in the market is going to cost us double before the Daves have finished, and we will end up with second choice players,
My view on Valencia is he had about 4 outstanding Performances playing with Sak a long time ago,a couple of average ones to follow and the rest have been very poor weather on the wing or up top,
AC is probably 1-2 one bad to one good,
Sak is probably better then both even when not scoring he blends with the team better and has more to offer,
So on Valencia I think he should sold,
On Sak I am not sure he wants to go as now he is thinking about the moves on offer and maybe Slav should talk to him maybe let him lead the attack this week if he wants to be part of the setup,or push the sale through,
AC is fit and can probably go if we can bring in a similar player like Gomez or Bony first,
Just don’t see him staying fit much longer,

    • Sams P45 says:

I bet Sakho is going to end up having the hump again when it sinks into his skull that only teams like W Brom want him bubs haha.He is going to feel sick soon I reckon. You are right about the left back position though.Buying in a big money signing is pointless IMO.We need someone who can capably cover the position.Cresswell until now has been indestructible, most other lbs know that so the players like Robertson won’t move knowing they will be fecking subs as soon as dress well returns 🙂

  • Tone says:

    Dress well 🙂 🙂

  • bubs says:

Dress well is definitely not Song or Sak that’s for sure,
    No dress sense,
Who ever arrives now won’t be ready for Thursday and probably not ready for Chelski,
That’s why in my opinion Page should start or Reid and we need to stick with it to give the defence time to settle,
