Big boost for Moyes after Chelsea

antonio2707abcWest Ham finished the game against Chelsea this afternoon with a clean bill of health after an exhausting and breathless outing against Chelsea.

Michael Antonio finished the game flat on his back having given absolutely everything before being subbed in pursuit of the winning cause but ClaretandHugh learned tonight that he will be fit for Wednesday evening’s clash against Arsenal.

Another outstanding performer, Marko Arnautovic, took a small knock but again will be okay for the game against the north Londoners.

It was good news all the way for manager David Moyes who beyond that, has a really powerful bench available too  him and will be carefully weighing his options for what begins to look a winnable game after the two outings against Manchester City and last season’s champions.

Winston Reid felt no ill effects after returning to the team and following a hugely impressive performance it will come as a big surprise if Moyes changes the team.

  1. Antonio was out on his feet after an hour, he should of been the first to be replaced.
He just doesn’t look 100 per cent fit.

  2. Let’s be honest cressweĺl played well today along with the other ten but still not a good defender we need classy left side defender and one that can play right or left. Noble on the bench maybe but we need a kante excellent player to be alongside either obiang or koy or both depending what formation Moyers chooses. Can sell dress Carroll and sakho for funding some fresh players and we will be fine with playing this squad fitter sorry slav and better organised probably because slavs loyalty to his backroom staff that badly let him down and should have gone before him . Some players do actually take time to bed in arnie masu fonte are three examples. Oh hopefully Manu lanzini has everything except he gets knocked off the ball too easily so like a lot of good small technical players needs to bulk up a bit more in the gym to become a top player. Messi did it so if the best player in the world can do it then im sure somevof his contemporaries that are small can follow that road.

    • Great analysis, re: Lanzini..
At the moment he is a very good player, but is somewhat spasmodic in his displays.
He can beat 2-3 opposing players with consummate ease, but just when you expect him to score, he will lose possession.
If he can improve on his upper-body strength, the goals will start coming his way on a more regular basis. Playing just off the 2 main strikers, he has the technical ability to find the net from 20-25 metres. How much would West Ham benefit from a stronger, incisive, Lanzini!!

      • I think if you look at him when he first came and now, he has actually bulked up, even though he is still very slight, bottom line is he is short and fine boned, he is not built like a Maradonna or even a Messi, I am sure he will continue to develop physically, his biggest problem is he doesn’t create enough clear chances from open play, that said he is still our best player and a massive assett, hopefully as Moyes develops our system he will find his team mates moving in more consistent ways and it will make it easier for him to release passes or play one two’s to open our opponents.

  3. Even Noble had a resonably good game .

  4. Agree 32 at the moment Moyes has had to go back to basics to stop us leaking goals once that is sorted he can organise the team to be more aggressive on the attack front & hopefully get the team playing attractive football

  5. Funny that Moyes said that he would like his team to play more like Chelsea – not like yesterday, I hope!
