Michail Antonio has expressed optimism about West Ham United‘s progress under new manager Julen Lopetegui, despite the defeat to Crystal Palace.

The striker, who scored in the match, acknowledged the challenges of adapting to a new playing style but emphasised the positive signs within the team. Antonio highlighted the importance of patience as the squad continues to gel under the Spanish coach.

On the game itself, he remarked “It was just a few mistakes that made us concede goals, but I just don’t want anyone to panic, really. We’re learning a new way to play. We’re showing that we can start pressing high and sometimes people are going to find pockets and play through us, but there were a lot of positives and we keep moving forward to the season”.

The  big fellow’s commitment to the team and his willingness to adapt to new tactical demands will be crucial as West Ham look to build momentum ahead of the new Premier League season.

He needs players that can pass as well as press, will be interesting to see how many of the Moyes ever presents can hold their places.

All supporters of West Ham just remember what Antonio brings to the team, yes ok his not the player he was. But still has a lot to bring to the team super sub this next season maybe .!!!

  • Jeeps says:

It took Chelsea nearly 10 months to gel and then thanks to Cole Palmer (pity we didn’t sign him last year) there was a transformation.
    Never really happened at Forest.
This number of new players is a big upheaval and patience will be needed.
    Defence needs to be 100%.

100% right Jeeps, the worst thing we can do is panic and create that toxic atmosphere…. I’m honestly hoping that we can be competitive, keep our heads above the water and make a impact next season, when we have truly settled and created an identity.

  • John Sharp says:

This has been one of those nightmare close-seasons for all clubs with many players getting back late from representing their countries and some, like Alvarez, coming back injured
In West Ham’s case, throw in a new manager with a new approach and a lot of new players to be integrated and it gets even more difficult.
Loppy and the team need our support as never before.
