AFTER his man of the match performance against Newcastle United, there were high hopes that debutant Freddie Potts would be able to live up to his first full game’s promise and deliver another high calibre midfield performance. Today against Burnley Potts did not disappoint with a first half performance of maturity, sitting deeper behind Paqueta and providing solidity and shielding the back four.

However they sight of Potts limping off clutching his Hamstring on the 60 minute mark would have concerned Hammers fans- several squad members have fallen victim of long term hamstring injuries and the last thing the young man need snow having just made his breakthrough is a long layoff.

Hammers manager gives positive update on Freddie Potts

However the news from Nuno Espírito Santo after the game, speaking to the press in the post – match conference seemed a positive prognosis:

He has a dead leg: (Just) a dead leg. Will he be available for Bournemouth in tw weeks time? – Yes “I think” he remarked.

Which is welcome indeed as the Hammers have a two week break for the bulk of the squad to recover: Potts should be good to go for the trip to the south coast.

From the old Bobby Moore Upper to the Billy Bonds' stand these days - sometimes- have to admit I have not renewed my season ticket... I've been watching since '03 and a supporter since about 1970..
Favourite player - Dean Ashton: Still watch YouTube repeats of the Cup Final of 2006 hoping in vain that Shaka Hislop grows six inches and stops Steven Gerrard's injury time equaliser. Can tell I'm getting old knowing I saw both Mark Noble's debut and his last game at West Ham.
Pulling on a Claret and Blue replica shirt still makes me feel the same butterflies as when I was seven years old. Magic.

Great news, after breaking through we want him to be a fixture in the team and do what Rice and Scarles have done to encourage the u21’s to keep pushing. The best way to avoid wasting money in the market is to promote our academy players COYI !!!

It looked like a dead leg to me. He had been in a collision just before he went down, caught just behind his thigh.
Anyone who has had one knows how painful they can be!
Looking forward to him being back in 2 weeks time!
Certainly a future captain IMHO, just like his dad 👏⚒️

That’s great news regarding Potts because he is needed to help cover for the suspended Paqueta. I wonder if one of the other Academy players might be selected for a first team debut? Kante intrigues.
