It isn’t often that Sam ‘BFS’ Allardyce speaks about anything ‘West Ham’ and finds much of a consensus amongst West Ham fans. Indeed, of late he has been upsetting many Claret and Hugh readers and Hammers fans by his continual support of Moyes and his own assertion that ‘ There was no such thing as the ‘West Ham Way’: Clearly I found myself in disagreement with him.

On one issue there is no argument with Allardyce’s comments from me -or from anyone who has watched the team play this season:

Speaking on the ‘no tippy tappy football ‘ YouTube podcast, Sam was commenting on West Ham’s acquisitions and in particular, the purchase from Manchester United of Aaron Wan Bissaka, who was voted man of the match by Hammers fans  last time out. Along with me and thousands of others, Allardyce found it incredible that Eric Ten Haag decided to sell probably the best right back in England.

He suggested that United’s decision to let Wan Bissaka go was ‘absolutely bizarre’: “The only reason I can see why Manchester United let him [Wan-Bissaka] go is, maybe because he is not as good as Dalot attacking-wise.”

BFS Agrees: Wan Bissaka is a £15m bargain

“Because everybody knows, obviously Ten Hag does not know, the only way you win something is when you have got the best defensive record in the league.  Obviously you will need to score the goals to go with it, but if you have got the best defensive record in the league you need less goals to win it than you would if you do not have the best defence.”

He’s not wrong.

What he didn’t add-but I will – is that equally bizarre is the fact that no other club came in to bid for Aaron Wan-Bissaka and West Ham had a free run at the defender who has been an absolute revelation in his brief Hammers career.

£15 million for a 26 year old English homegrown right-back?  We are all in agreement then. As Sam says: ‘Very good business indeed’.

From the old Bobby Moore Upper to the Billy Bonds' stand these days I've been watching since '03 and a supporter since about 1970.. 'Football is Life' oh yes. Let it raise your spirit but never darken your mood. Life's too short not to enjoy the journey with our Claret and Blue heroes n' villains.

Considering it takes the best defense to be up there fighting for thinks it makes it more bizarre the fact we sold Aguerd and allowed ourselves to go down to three defenders. Coukd be the making of Casey though. Maybe JLoppy thinks he’s up to it.
