Big Sam: No new deals until we’re safe

NolanWest Ham’s eight contract-seeking stars have been told: “Nothing will be sorted out until we are safe!

Sam Allardyce has eight players looking for new deals this summer.

Matt Taylor, Joe Cole, George McCartney, Jack Collison, Jussi Jaaskelainen, Daniel Potts, Abdul Razak and Leo Chambers are all understood to be free agents after the season.

Big Sam Allardyce  said ahead of today’s game at Stoke : “There’s a load of them out but contracts won’t be talked about until we are safe.”

The Hammers – 10th on 31 points after fighting their way out of relegation trouble – are looking for another huge boost at the Britannia Stadium.

Captain Kevin Nolan, who has bounced back from two red cards to become their seven-goal top scorer has been on fire and the boss said: “I hope Kevin keeps it up.

“He’s got to continue to strive, not only to reach the levels he’s hit but to go beyond.

“Kevin’s bounced back brilliantly from the red cards but can’t afford to let his level of performance diminish.

“He had the desire and determination to come back and prove what a good player he is.

“But none of my squad can ease off. They’ve always got to hit the top performance on a consistent basis at this level of football.”
