Big worries over Bilic ‘change of system’

|

Slave Bilic has admitted that Diafra Sakho’s latest injury woes and with both Enner Valencia and Dimitri Payet on the sidelines will see him have to change the system.

ClaretandHugh’s facebook members at https://www.facebook.com/groups/363174467150521/ are worried about what that may mean.

Here’s a selection of their comments.

Jon Boreham
Jon Boreham If Carroll has a major role to play, then we’re in trouble.

Perry Coyi Norman
Perry Coyi Norman Jon you took the words out of my mouth

Chris Denning
Chris Denning I believe the club said they would only buy in January if needed. Well, we need another striker. For now, put Zarate up front and add Song to the midfield

Niall McDonald
Niall McDonald Well if the system accommodates the strengths of Carroll, that’s fine with me.

Carol Combes
Carol Combes Don’t think the other players suit the system that suits AC!

Ian Salisbury
Ian Salisbury Personally I’m surprised that we’re in this position, I thought with players like Kouyate in the team to act as an enforcer players like Payet would have been protected, it’s obvious that teams would go all out to minimize his affect, yesterday’s game showed that because of the style we are playing we are vulnerable to harsh treatment, the refs need to be more diligent in dishing out the cards. I agree with playing Zarate but not as a lone striker, he’s not robust enough, for the time being we may have to pair him with Jelavic.

Graham Herbert
Graham Herbert If the system is right, Carroll COULD score us a load of goals. Problem is – that system is probably the one that got Allardyce slaughtered by the fans every week.

Peter Edward Ellis
Peter Edward Ellis I think we would put up with it as its a “needs must” situation. The reason Sam got slaughtered for it was because it was the default setting every week, no matter who the opposition. It was his plan a, b, c …….. That’s what the annoyance was.
For that reason I think people would understand if we used Carrolls strengths until reinforcements come back. Roll on feb!!!
Mark John Candler
Mark John Candler What amazes me is that a £15 million player can’t adapt to the rest of the team, plus we should have the talent to more than make up for payet(even tho greatly missed he is) it only needs tweaking, you could still play 451 but with zarate in the middle of the 3 attacking midfielders, I see him more of a no10 than lanzini! Plus If you do use andy u need your fullbacks as width to put in crosses!

Richard Oses
Richard Oses Dont see why with Carroll on the wing we cant see the same style of fluid footy we already play. If he stays near the box instead of roaming the centre then the wingers can get somw crosses into him. If they can avoid the defence lumping it to him while he is so deep and get him to stay up front while the talented Lanzini/Moses/Zarate create the space to put the crosses in then it will work as it did against Chelsea

Paul Davis
Paul Davis If Carroll play with someone up there he could be good but can’t see it and he come to deep anyways but we trust billic

Evan Smith
Evan Smith adrian/ tom kin,reid,ogbonna,cressie/obiang,cheek jackson,nobes/lanzini,zarate/carroll jelavic. new system same staff. 4322 then you can change the system or just the players as required.

Stephen Clark
Stephen Clark we should go with a 352 jenks, cressie the wing backs reid, tomkins and ogbonna c/h song, kayote and lanzinie playing the number 10 role in the middle with carroll and zarate up front

I think most of the support seems to be against Carroll, which I find really I classless to say the least, so we no better off at this stage under Bilic then we was under Allerdyce and this is the man who had to come in and change a club who was down and out, but people say through gritted teeth he did well in lower case, rather then be happy with what he did, I don’t care what he says cos I’m saying what the manager did and not the man in private says. I’d be happy to buy the man a drink if I ever saw him out, and I think Carroll is in the same place, if you think back he’s come from long injury played in only what three games and score against Chelsea, I think some of you lot need to sit back and think who would be better then Carroll in the air and given the chance he’s good on the floor so I will support pass and present team to the hilt.coyi
