Bilic admits he has a big problem looming

Slaven11Slaven Bilic knows that he will have unhappy members of the squad as more and more players return to full fitness.

Manuel Lanzini is set for a permanent place in the team and Michail Antonio will be fully over  groin injury when the international break ends.

It’s a refreshing problem to know that once all are available for selection there are going to be some disappointed squad members but Bilic isn’t in the business of happiness – just results.

Talking to the London Evening Standard, he said: “My job is not to make them happy. I mean it is a bonus if they are all happy, but it is impossible to have all the players happy. I have to make a fine balance between being solid and being dangerous when we have the ball.

“Sometimes it gives you a headache, who you will play when they are all fit. But my job is to look after the team and to treat every one of them in a good and decent way, then to try and keep them [on their] toes for the whole season.

“Put it this way, if Diafra Sakho and Arthur Masuaku weren’t on their toes last week or the week before they shouldn’t be able to perform like this [combining for the winner], and that is what I have to do.”

  1. Bilic does not have a headache when it comes to selecting Masuaku and Sakho to start a game.
His big headache will be telling his f’avorite boy’, Andy Carroll, that he is to start from the bench.
If Bilic fails to pair Chicharito with Sakho, then he will have a really big headache!

  2. Not in the business of happiness hes in the businss of results??? Wtf. Poor results and keeping his favourites happy more like. Notice straight away now there are calls to drop Cressy and Carroll his first answer is basically Arthur and Sak usually arent that good it was his man mangement that kept them on their toes and made them good? P**s off they are better players end of.

  3. It’s not hard Slav drop the Porcelain Princess, Captain Slow and Ayew and play Lanzini, Arthur and Sacko sorted 😆😆

  4. Before everyone starts jumping on the band wagon, lets not forget that Arthur has had some shockingly horrible games. It happens. But as of recent he seems to have pulled his socks up and long may it last.
I actually think Cresswell and Arthur play better when they’re on the field together. It certainly solves that left side by giving us plenty of pace, crossing ability and defensive duties get taken care of very solidly. Maybe its because they know they can cover each other when one goes forward, the other holds? It just works well. Same with Antonio and Zab on the other side although Zab takes care of the defensive duties more.
Now all we need to do is get right through the middle.
I would definitely like to see Chico and Sakho up front together though to see how that works out?

    • Fair shout Doc, Especially Arthur bombing forward and not having to defend too much, but where does Anoutivic fit in then? Midfield diamond with him at the top? Can’t believe I just said that!
