Slaven Bilic has confirmed that the Hammers want to sign Alex Song on a permanent deal – as revealed by ClaretandHugh on Wednesday.
The Irons boss – commenting on the ‘confused’ position declared: “He’s a little bit injured. He did really well last year and I would like him to stay with us.”
Usually Bilic makes a point of refusing to comment on player movements but broke his rule to give and update on the situation.
He said: “‘Although I said I’m not going to discuss players from other teams, he is somewhere in between.”
ClaretandHugh had revealed that the club were ready to swoop on the Barcelona midfielder towards the end of the season.
A source had explained to us: “He has had an operation on his ankle and should be fit by October so we don’t want to be waiting until January.”
The club would like to sign him on an initial year to look at his fitness with the offer of a longer tem deal if he proves himself back to full form.
