Manager Slaven Bilic has dropped a big hint he may dive into the Janary transfer market to compensate for the loss of players to the African Nations Cup.
Sofiane Feghouli, Senegalese pair Cheikhou Kouyate and Diafra Sakho and Ghana international Andre Ayew are all expected to join up with their respective countries for the three-week tournament in Gabon which begins on Jan. 14.
“It’s not ideal that three or four of our players will be heading to the African Cup of Nations. But it’s at the same time as the transfer window,” Bilic told a news conference on Friday.
And despite picking up three points against Burnley, Bilic accused his side of suffering from a lack of confidence after taking the lead in the first half.
“In the second half I saw what I call that cramp, when you are afraid of winning,” said Bilic who has a full squad available for the game.
“It happens to clubs who are under-achieving. I don’t want it. The only way it goes away is by winning games and climbing the table.
Hopefully, on Saturday against Hull we will see less of that cramp, and we will be more confident.”
We need a top quality RB and CF. I hope the board don’t panic like in the summer and go for quantity over quality. Yes quality costs that bit more but wouldn’t it be nice to secure 2 players who could come in and give real competition to the starting XI. Hopefully Bryam should be back fit by boxing day so we would have competition and cover for there and if Big Andy can stay fit for a few weeks competition up top also.
Another question …. why would Senegal want Sakho he has been injured for 6 months! He might as well stay with us when he is fit mid jan.
Sorry lads cut and paste balls up. Quote now in
What exactly is the hint? That the transfer window is, in fact, in January? What a clickbait title.
I call it cramp also Slaven I just pronounce it with a silent M 😀
Silent M, but a capital C!
am I the only one that doesn’t see the hint?
No Max there wasn’t a single hint about the market in there.
