A win today for Slaven Bilic would surely make him odds on favourite for the Barclays Premier League Manager of the Month for September.
Wins over Newcastle at home and Manchester City away in the league on the back of a historic 3-0 win over Liverpool at Anfield at the end of August must give the Croatian a very good chance of picking up the award. His only hiccup in September is the 2-1 Capital One League Cup loss against the unbeaten Leicester City last week. The manager of the month award is about Premier League matches so a win over Norwich today would still give Bilic a 100% record in September.
Of course some consider the manager the month award the kiss of death, former Hammers manager Sam Allardyce won the award in February and October 2014. Allardyce won the manager of the month last season after beating QPR, Burnley and Man City in the month of October. Following his award, West Ham slumped the next month managing two draws against Stoke and Villa before losing to Everton and scraping a 1-0 win against Newcastle in the last few days of November.
A similar pattern occurred in February the previous season. West Ham beat Southampton, Norwich, Aston Villa and Swansea to give Allardyce 100% record for the month. The following month, March we lost three on a bounce losing to Everton, Stoke and Manchester United.
That’s absolutely right bubs, an evil spell has been lifted 🙂
Weather we win today or not he should win the award for the 3 away wins alone,
But if Leicester win there will be another manager pushing for the award,
But please stop comparing Slav with that other creature,
There is no comparison, the award is for results only
The difference in our club under Slav is 1000% better in football style fans happiness
The leadership and conduct of the manager,
It’s like some evil spell has been removed from our club
