Bilic hit by another major injury blow

AntonioMichail Antonio has become the latest Hammer to be ruled out of Saturday evening’s match against Liverpool at the London Stadium.

Antonio has been in and out of the team this season after undergoing a summer operation to repair a torn hamstring.

But now he has suffered a recurrence of a rib injury sustained during West Ham’s 3-0 recent home defeat by Brighton.

It’s all bad news this week for manager Slaven Bilic who has lost Pablo Zabaleta’s natural replacement in Sam Byram who has a quads injury.

And final decisions are still awaited on the positions of central defenders Winston Reid and Jose Fonte.

Antonio will be missed badly by the manager despite heavily criticising the Hammer of the Year last week following an error in the closing seconds which led to the Palace equaliser.

After the game he said that it was a mistake which should never happen at this level of the game to which ClaretandHugh pundit Max Willow responded that the player should not have been on the pitch as he was clearly in pain – a situation which has been confirmed by his absence tomorrow!

  1. He hasn’t been fully fit all season we have seen him struggling in games at Brighton Swansea Burnley… He shouldn’t be risked anyway. But his power & pace make it hard not pick him & that he is our only real RW RM.
But he shouldn’t be playing unfortunately Byram is out now too

  2. Had enough for now, not going to bother going on Saturday night now, hope I live to regret it but somehow I doubt it.

  3. He hasn’t looked fit since the Huddersfield game, he started that game like ‘the proverbial of a shovel’ but took a heavy knock and has not looked the same player since. You suspect Bilic has been playing him even though he is only half fit.

It sounds like we’re really struggling to put out a Team, god knows who’s going the play right-back? I only hope he doesn’t use Kouyate there, he was a bit of a disaster last time!

    • Fernandes… Prob RWB he has covered there before… Wonder if Pike will be on bench for cover.
But will do back 3 I would think but w Bilic never know.
      Rice Kouyate OG

  4. The Marx brothers have nothing on this mob 😂
Vic and holland should be drafted in you would think and what’s the fitness of sakho ! Use him ffs!!
3-5-2 then , obiang is a defo ! Noble will start ffs? So bilic was happy with his squad defensively was he lol 😂 give the young UN’s a runout , he’s dead meat anyway ! Got nothing to lose and neither have us supporters !!
To be fair I don’t think we will miss Antonio ! Bilic could have done more damage than good playing him! Just to try and save his arry ? 😎

  5. Has not looked fit for a while.Confidence could be shot after that howler against Palace.Massive game for Bilic.Could be last chance saloon.Interested to see if toxic atmosphere is back if we do not get off to a flier. Was always about the next home game after the Brighton fiasco for Bilic one feels.

  6. Antonio has looked knackered the last couple of games anyway so no loss there, rather put somenone in who is fit and that is his regular position. Funny how Snoddgrass is looking fit and back on form again.
If the U23’s dont get a nod when they are fit and ready and SB would rather putr a round peg in a square hole whats the point of the squad at all!
SB reminds me of that scene in Cliffhanger wher Stallone is gripping onto that glove and it slips and the chick becomes pizza at the bottom of the canyon canyon., the two Davids in the chopper looking on in horror but doing F All to help, pay him off and move on like your should have done at the end of last season you chops!!

  7. Didn’t read the article to be honest ..it’s all excuse x escuse .
Don’t really need to read an article that excuses the Manager .
Get Him Out , NOW .
Our squad should be good Enough .
Calls for a change in management can’t continue to be ignored much longer .
Some Fans love him , while others are not sure anymore .
Time to walk away . If we don’t do it soon it will be too late .

  8. Koeman or Pardew for me ; it’s clear Bilic can’t do it .
Pardew actually did nothing wrong accept take the blame for Tevez .

  9. And before anybody starts having a go at me ; Tevez never really did anything.
