Bilic speaks to Chicharito again

Hernandez is different level

Slaven Bilic says he has spoken again to Chicharito saying he started as a centre-forward but had to change after the introduction of Andy Carroll after Antonio’s injury.

Again Bilic claims Chicharito was not played wide on the wing but as a striker. He admitted he is not easy to play him along side Carroll, Arnie and Antonio.

“I spoke to him after West Brom game and today he started as a centre-forward and then he had to change the position because we wanted to stay in the same system as it was working well. Bilic told reporters.

“Even then, he was in good areas so you can’t say he was out wide. Against top teams, everyone has to defend and he was in a position where he would have been if we were playing two strikers.

When we were attacking he was not playing on the wing, he was a striker. It’s not very easy play him with Andy, Antonio and Arnautovic and play with three centre backs.”

  1. I like Carroll more than I like Ayew, but taking off Antonio and replaceing him with Carroll, was rather strange. He should have been replaced, like for like. Ayew. The disruption on the flow of our game would have been much less. We were in very little danger before the injury to Antonio, and we lost it completely after Carroll came on.

  2. If it’s such problem why did you buy them in the first place?

  3. ayew would’ve been an option. personally i’d have gone with sakho. byram would’ve even kept a similar shape.

instead bilic, trying to keep the SAME system, put on an immobile centre forward, who drops deep and thinks he can play as a number 10, and switched another player to a position he isn’t interested in playing (not hernandez fault, but he doesn’t have much interest in tracking back and helping zabaletta like antionio occasionally does. so definitely not a like for like replacement). so basically, NOT the same system at all.

    • Agree Sahko pace and finishing for me also think him and Chic would complement each other better then him and AC. AC should be impact sub.
Chicarito as shown why we bought him for CF. And he has good character doesn’t mid playing on wings but isn’t were u will get the most out of his poaching ability.
His energy yesterday and enthusiasm would think he had been playing in Spurs Derby his whole life. Smart around goal right place and will cover the ground and put in the work. But we also have to press with him he isn’t a defend all game throw a few long balls CF. The games we haves pressed and created chances he has scored. 3 goals had 2 other good shots yesterday he doesn’t wait to take chances to late. For me he has to be #1 striker

  4. Am i missing something here.Chicharito has scored all 40 of his goals from inside the box so why on earth stick him out wide.Major blunder from Bilic yesterday.Surely Sakho should have replaced Antonio to keep the momentum. The managers inability to see past Carroll will ultimately cost him his job i feel.Is Thomas Tuchel waiting in the wings?.

  5. I thought you lot were waiting in the wings for the job.Youre all experts and qualified for the position it would appear.
