Slaven Bilic has revealed there has been little communication between himself and goalkeeper Adrian over recent weeks as the clamour for him to bring the Spaniard back into the team grows.
Randolph has been in awful form over recent weeks culminating in a near horror show at Sunderland last weekend.
However, the manager – unless he is on bluffing and double bluffing- appears to be unmoved in his resolution to stick with Randolph.
He is hard to read at times but has admitted to not speaking with Adrian recently saying: “We’ve spoken a few times, not in the last couple of weeks but when I decided to drop him to give Randy a chance.
“Then, after that, we have spoken a couple of times about his future.
“Adrian is a great professional and he never dropped his level in training one bit. I told him he had to wait for his chance and that is exactly how it is.”
That follows his comments that after last weeks game that he doesn’t like changing keepers on a “game to game basis.”
It’s Adrian for me if we want to stop fluky luky .
Might not like changing keepers on a game by game basis but that has hardly been the case here. We do not see Adrian in training, so have no idea whether he is ready to take his chance or not but if you use the basis on which Randolph got his then Adrian should be given his opportunity again. For me nothing to choose between them but consistency of selection and the basis on which it is done should be in play here and Bilic’s stubbornness will be his undoing.
Agree with you JMan definitely nota game by game match Randy has had half a season of mistakes now, I still can’t think of a game he has definitely won us, he has made a handful of very good saves, the only plus I have for him is that he catches the ball instead of flapping at it like Adrian does, he is solid but not top quality, Adrian can have those games where he is unbeatable pulling off numerous World Class saves as a shot stopper Adrian is the choice every day of a week as a steady Eddie its Randy, against the top teams you need a keeper that will make a lot of saves which is another reason I would have Adrian in always against the top six because the keeper will be busy, the defence maybe too if he flaps at a few but on balance I would choose Adrian. It makes me wonder also when it is patently obvious Adrian’s biggest flaw is balls into the box why he has not been drilled by the coaches too fix his obvious flaw, if he caught crosses instead of trying to punch them and cleared out defenders in the process, improved his distribution, he could be a top keeper and save us having to waste money on a new keeper, personality wise we all love him, yes he lost confidence at the start of the season and was poor but perhaps some of that had to do with having a new baby also he has had enough time to get on top of that now (baby permitting) should be given another chance especially of what Bilic says is true and he has kept training at a high level.
So Bilic doesn’t talk to his players, that in itself is a worrying situation…. you’d think he’d be giving Adrian some encouragement….
