Slaven Bilic has told Andy Carroll to grab the huge opportunity before him declaring that it’s all about the ‘click.’
Carroll will lead the line at Old Trafford today as the Hammers seek to put the miseries of recent injuries behind them and Bilic has no alternative but to put his faith in Carroll.
He said: “He has the stage, he has the shop window – the shop window is the Premier League games. Of course the national team manager is watching games and if he does it in the Premier League then of course he’s got the chance to be involved in the team.”
But Bilic has warned he could yet be left behind unless he is able to provide more goals more often.
He added: “It goes for every player and he knows that. But he’s got goals in him and he’s a quality player. It’s about the click.
“I see Andy as a team player. He has always been very important for our game, no matter whether we have had a full squad or not.
“But especially now with Dimitri Payet, Enner Valencia and Sakho out of the squad of course you need people like him. Also people like Nikica Jelavic, like Mauro Zarate, like Victor Moses, like Michael Antonio to step in and do the job for us.”
Is he for real, I don’t believe he is going to make the same mistake again, play Carroll as a lone striker. In business there is a very important thing called learning from mistakes, lessons learned, if he deploys Carroll again today as the lone striker then he is showing serious weakness in his management approach. We will not score and United will win – that is what is going to happen. If he is to play Carroll he has to change his system to 4-4-2, it is the only system he ill score in. I hope he plays Tomks at RB and drop Jenks – he is so poor. I said it last season and no one believed it, sorry except Bubs.
