Bilic unsure on Irons striker’s future

|

Fletch1Slaven Bilic will make no decision over Ashley Fletcher’s future until he has sorted out his own striker comings and goings.

We understand that the manager remains uncertain of the former Manchester United youngster and is unready to make snap decisions.

Huddersfield have registered an interest in the player but the manager is adopting a wait and see attitude until he has completed his own search for new front men.

Fletcher made 20 appearances off the bench – often very late in proceedings – for just one goal against Manchester Unted in the 4-1 defeat at Old Trafford.

Many believe he should have been given more chances ahead of  the departed Jonathon Callieri but with newly promoted Huddersfield ready to pay a reported £5 million he could be on his way if the interest is firmed up.

Bilic, however, will wait until he is sure he has sorted out the team’s striking options before making his decision on the 21 year old.

Seems like all stuff and nonsense. Even a Bilic doesn’t know what he wants . How are we fans to know what to think now ?? .

  • Stan The Man says:

All it says is bilic is unsure whether to keep him which will be dependent on who we can sign.Actaully i am in two minds about fletcher as well. All managers have players they have to make decisions on kevin.Try to relax my friend.

He hasn’t had a chance to show us anything yet. I’d rather keep him over Carroll right now, and I’ve been a Carroll fan since we signed him. Throwing money after the likes of Giroud (and Ayew imho) is crazy. Why not give Quina and Martinez a chance too?

  • Stan The Man says:

So we dont buy any players like giroud and go in to the season with fletcher and martinez. There is a plan doomed if ever i saw one aol lol.

I know what you mean STM, but we seem to be trying to run before we can walk. Last summer we came across as desperate and ended up with not much at all. Letting Fletcher go, sending Oxford out on loan with more likely to follow, it just feels like we could be a bit smarter with our assets, both players and cash. Bigger teams than us seem to give up-and-coming youngsters real playing time and find ways to include them.

I doubt very much that Slaven Bilic has been quoted in saying this (or many things he;s ever accredited to)……. It’s the end of June, players are on holiday and there’s nothing much to write about to keep Claret and Hugh ticking over. C’mon, cut the crap!

Don’t blame Bilic. In similar vein looks like Everton are going to sign Henry O and then loan him out in Belgium. That’s one down- no wonder Bilic is choosing to wait…

  • Ludos Gloves says:

Practice what you preach TRB,cut the crap.Choose to ignore an article or read it….its that simple.

    • TRB says:

Perhaps you could take your own advice, Ludos?

      • Ludos Gloves says:

And why the **** should i.Im not the one who came on here squealing like a pig just to be obnoxious about the place!

  • hammers64 says:

Cant blame Bilic. We have a pair of dithering old farts who are playing some kind of Mexican stand off again.Lost out on Onyekuru so that’s a month of chasing down the pan.Its a mess.

  • Radai Lama says:

To be fair 64 we aint got a clue how much we chased him.Owngoalnigeria and other shyte newspapers have done all the talking. You really have got to stop reading newspapers 😂
And please tell me who we are officially having a mexican stand off with.I want cold hard facts not some wishy washy media bullshyte 😂

  • Radai Lama says:

Oh & let Fletcher go,i dont normally nail my colours to the mast when it comes to players but im telling you he aint ever goig to cut it in the Prem.Championship player all day long 😉

If it’s true about Onyereku then so be it, they are throwing a lot of money around but as many have said they know they will be selling Lukaku and / or Barclay so will have a decent warchest, OT I read an interview with exwhuemployee where he said the transfer budget will probably be smaller than last year, if so I find that staggering I don’t normally listen to such reports but Ex is usually pretty accurate. Time will tell would be nice to get a marquee signing but then there have been very few of those over the years at our club so if we don’t it won’t be any different to most years.

  • Ludos Gloves says:

Yes it has to be beared in mind that though Everton are spending the cash they are going to lose their two top scorers from last season it looks like.I have to say so far i have been underwhelmed by Pickford in the u21 tournie. The dutch fella is an unknown pl quantity and Onye appear to be going back to Belgium. They can spend £150 million but they wont replace lukakus goals!!

  • RayStewartsRightPeg says:

All symbolic of modern football. Young players never get time to develop. Everyone wants big money signings as if that’s the answer. Take a look at our top 10 goalscorers of all time – all were either home grown or cheap buys. I know people going to say football is different…but in response to that, out highest goalscoring player of the modern post Sky era is Carlton Cole.

    • West Ham Fan No 32 says:

Wowzer that is a sobering thought much as I like CC with a career 1 in 4 record would mean a 15 goals striker would be a massive improvement, to be honest I am not sure we shouldn’t hang on to Enner, we need someone for the left side and he can fill that role. I agree with you that we should be looking to develop our talent, would be happy if Martinez can try a new division maybe championship or league 1, Cullen and Burke to Bolton will be good for them also as is Oxford to Borussia, try Quina in League 1 for me he has to learn the more physical side of the game, Rice likewise could do with a season at League one or the Championship to improve his strength, I am fairly hopeful of our young players, Fletcher to me shows the most promise and he already has the physical strength just needs to learn the game a bit more. I don’t see many players offering us a lot of value in this window so better not to panic buy which has been the case previously and has rarely worked out well.

  • Boogabenson says:

The lad has never really been given a chance like many younger players. Unlike a certain player whom scores one blinder in 4 then is out for four months.

To be honest im bored stiff of the rumours on who we will buy up front.
