Bilic’s complicated ‘stick or twist’ problem

bilicbirkikaraSlaven Bilic knows he could soon face a big “stick or twist” decision on Diafra Sakho

He wants the striker to prove himself 100 per cent fit and  earn a new contract with the Hammers but the position is complicated by fears the back injury could cause further issues plus the player’s attitude and lack of starts.

And should a club come in with an offer of around £10 million, Bilic has to seriously consider the pros and cons surrounding Sakho.

He knows that should he give the the striker get regular starts between now and January  and there is a goals reward, he has a tough decision to make should an offer to be made with Rennes maintaining a watching brief.

The French club offered the Hammers €9 million in the summer but will need to up that to £10 million minimum if they are to have any hope of taking the player away.

Bilic also knows that he could inhibit any offer by not playing the striker regularly in what is becoming a more and more difficult situation to solve .

  1. Twist !!!! Sack bilic and play sakho and offer him a new contract for the sake of the club not the mismanagement of bilic !!! Problem solved lol 😎

  2. Agree Laz. He has shown off the bench he can be in right place at right time so he should get a start. And AC has not been great or even sub par of late. He might be child and s new incentive pay could help but we need goals & Dyche knows how to handle AC.
If Arnie plays like he did on Intl break Chic as well the 3 of them should be able to get some goals

  3. This should not be a major problem. Everyone knows what Sakho is capable of and most people know that he was majorly miffed at not being played and still is. The way he went about his ‘protest’ was completely out of order , but in some ways understandable as if there is a grudge and he is being kept out because of what happened before (the injury thing during international appearances was ridiculous as well) but for the good of the club, the best players (ie those that work well together in synergy and common aim) must be played at all times.
As much as I like Slaven I do not understand his mentality with forwards, ( Fletcher should have been given a better chance to show) and there is no logical reason why Sakho is playing the channels and can score directly or through headers interplay, when dear old AC is a one trick pony who demands the play and is quite good at defending corners.
Our best team does not start with Carrol but probably should start with Hernadez and Sakho relieving the onus on Little Pea to be a target man or left winger.

    • I agree I would want to play as well at 27 and he is fit why would he want to Waste some of his best years.
I don’t know if it’s true but usually are 2 sides to a story and supposedly it wasnt all on Sahko about Rennes…. So their are 2 sides and some could have very well known about it.
But he is fit has been spot on every sub he has made. And to me he offers more than AC does esp with our lack of pace.

  4. This comes across as a “prepare the ground and manage expectations” propaganda story being put out to soften what would be a ridiculous decision to accept only £10m for Sakho. Provided he doesn’t break down his market value in the current environment should probably be on the right side of £20m. There is no way we would find an equivalent striker for less than £20m, I believe Chickpea being something of an exception. He has shown good form when he has come on for us and realistically has earned a starting place. He gives us many more options than AC, who has failed to score this term and averages only six goals per season for us anyway, with everything set up to serve him. AC requires a hoofball approach and that doesn’t open defences these days the way running the channels does.

  5. For God’s sake; give him some games !
