Bilic’s Diangana admiration may give Moyes a problem

Diangana – will he become a Baggie?

David Moyes is open to offers for any of his wide men with the exception of Jarrod Bowen this summer.

Felipe Anderson is the favoured option for a departure as the Hammers look to raise funds but the most obvious bid on the cards will be from West Brom for Grady Diangana where Slaven Bilic – with funds at his disposal to mount a Premier League challenge.

The former Hammers boss has made absolutely no secret of his admiration for the 22 year old and an early bid would be no surprise and that would test Moyes’ resolve on the player.

The young Hammer  received rave reviews  while on loan at the Hawthorns  last season despite his campaign being interrupted by injury after Christmas.

Currently Moyes has Bowen, Anderson, Yarmolenko, Snodgrass and Holland available for wide roles and of those the Ukranian and the Brazilian would be his preferred departures.

But should no sensible offer emerge and Albion come in with a bid close to the £20 million  for Grady, the Hammers could be tempted should there be no other action on other players

The manager is keen to strengthen at the back and whilst some cash could be pumped in by the owners he’s aware that it’s basically a case of sell to buy – a scenario which will perhaps force him into making some difficult choices.

  1. I wouldn’t be too quick to discard Yarmolenko, his goals per games played ratio is quite creditable, after coming back from a long injury enforced absence I thought he finished the season ok. I’d like to see him given a run in the team , maybe coming off the bench to impact games, and he certainly knows where the net is. As for Dianga, is he going to want fight for his place with us ? I believe he would prefer more first team football at West Brom.

  2. Imagine he wants to keep Fornals also, imho if the right offer comes in, sell Diangana, we have an abundance of talent in those positions that means he won’t play every game especially as his preferred position is Bowen’s, or let him have another season on loan at WBA for more PL experience, he is very good and maybe will be good enough to be a first team starter in a season or two but he is unlikley to displace Bowen so if we can get £20m for him or a good loan fee why not ?

    • Hi,yes as an Albion fan,Grady Diagana has been a revelation this season,He has come back from injury and played a major part in the remaining games,he has enjoyed his football with the Baggies, and has been a fan’s favourite,I am not sure if the Albion, will meet the transfer value, but another season on -loan would suit BOTH clubs!Good Luck to the Hammers!

      • I agree, it’d be interesting to see how well he does in the PL as he often lost the ball last time he played there.Didn’t he also play on the left wing for you? How well do you think you’ll do next season?

  3. Some sound common sense expressed ; but I do not think that we should sell Diangana – even though we have got some dross that will be difficult to even give away ! I would probably go along with another season’s loan to WBA. That way, we will see how good he is at PL level.

  4. I can see the board have already thrown Moyes under the bus. £0 transfer budget and now putting it on Moyes when we inevitably sell Diangana. So where has the money actually gone? Also, where is all this talk of following the Red Bull model? Our strategy is pick up cheap players from lower leagues who work with an agent we like. RB model consists of top quality scouting and an order to the club from top to bottom. If we were following this model, Grady would be the first name on the teams sheet and NOT FOR SALE!

  5. Offer to loan them Anderson – offset some of his wages?
