West Ham United fans have launched a protest against the club’s decision to remove season ticket concessions for new season ticket holders in bands 1-4. The supporters’ group, Hammers United, has taken the lead in organising the protest, which saw hundreds of black balloons released during the opening day defeat to Aston Villa.
The balloons, inscribed with messages such as “Save Our Concessions” and “Stop Exploiting Loyalty,” were a visual representation of fans’ discontent with the club’s pricing policy. According to Hammers United chair Paul Colbourne, there will be plenty more released going forward as the fans signal their displeasure at the new pricing policy, with the “Black Bubble Protest” becoming a symbol of the fans’ united stance.
The removal of concessions has sparked widespread anger among supporters, with many feeling that the club is prioritisng profit over fan loyalty. The protest highlights the growing frustration among fans regarding the rising cost of attending football matches.
It’s great Hammers United are making a stand and I agree with them entirely. However, please don’t spread your messages by releasing balloons. Awful for the environment.
This should be no surprise we all know what Sullivan is like his priority is money and control he really doesn’t care if fans moan or complain about this new ticketing system he knows that the home crowd will always be there even with the London stadium holding over 60000 there are at least 10fans waiting to take the place of anyone who stops attending in making their disapproval so he really does have us where he wants us sooner he’s gone the better
