West Ham season ticket and historian, Nigel Kahn takes on a trip down memory lane with six days until the final game at the Boleyn Ground.
Nigel was born and bought up in the East End and this video is a personal journey and tribute about his memories of the Boleyn Ground. After 112 years years of occupation we will be saying goodbye next week in what is sure to be an emotional night for all those in attendance and watching from afar on TV. We face Swansea City for our last Saturday game this Saturday followed by Manchester United next Tuesday under those famous lights one last time before the curtain drops forever.
Song is called Days by Kirsty MacColl.
Lyrics: “Thank you for the days”
“Those endless days, those sacred days you gave me”
“I’m thinking of the days”
“I won’t forget a single day believe me”
The last match at the Boleyn coincides with my 40th Birthday. That is gonna be some party!!!
Memories good and bad from the old lady. Strange that I cannot wait but also don’t want it to come.
Very good, some great matches in there as well.I was too young for the Tblisi game but my old man went & he has told me many times they were something special that night 🙂
Tblisi were amazing that night and were applauded off the pitch, we did win 0-1 out there though, not bad for a second division side…
Yeah Winslow,my dad says it is one of the best performances from a team he has witnessed.
Smashing stuff – and doesn’t Ray Davies beautiful song lyric fit the bill ?
Nice one Nigel, very good vid. Many memories squeezed in to that.
Quality video. Going to be a tough week (and longer) for the likes of Nigel and plenty of others who’ve seen so much at the Boleyn.
