Bookies back Sam return and it’s sheer fantasy

|

waving sam_allardyce_1528056cBookies pulling lists of odds together on the back of stories that are denied within three hours is one of the most ludicrous aspects of this game we all love so much.

It only took one misinformed story in the national media followed up by Sky Sports WHICH WAS DENIED LATER for the odds makers to decide who was going to replace Slaven Bilic…. who err, isn’t going to be replaced!

And the whole idea that their favourite – Sam Allardyce – would ever be invited back to West Ham ย is as ludicrous as expecting Lionel Messi to join the club.

Frank-De-BoerWe were told during our own conversations with club insiders over the last 48 hours that:

O they are backing Bilic unquestionably

O and that the prospect of an Allardyce return was total “madness” and would “never happen.”

David Sullivan has even been in touch with us and told us there is no crisis talk going on with the manager and that the board are 100 per cent behind him.

Read the story here:ย https://www.claretandhugh.info/candh-exclusive-sullivan-on-bilic-situation/

Then came the Ladbrokes names listed we publish and every single one of them was being thrown around when the Allardyce nightmare was coming to an end.

None were in the frame then as we went for Moyes, Benitez and Klopp before Bilic finally got the gig.

Were the club to be considering making a change – which we repeat they aren’t – it’s almost a given it would be a short term appointment until the end of the season.

That has brought in the likes of Guus Hiddink – a non starter at 70 years of age – and former England boss Roy Hodgson.

However, the Hammers will stick not twist given the options available and I suggest you keep your fivers very firmly in your pockets when looking at the list of names hurriedly put together by some junior clerk in a bookies’ office.

The bookies barmy list

Sam Allardyce 9/2
Frank de Boer 5/1
Garry Monk 20/1
Steve McClaren 20/1
Michael Laudrup 20/1
Harry Redknapp 33/1
