Bookies give their Bilic view

|

angry-bilic-624x447Despite Slaven Bilic admiring he is feeling the pressure of lingering around at the wrong end of the table, the bookmaking fraternity believe he’s a safe bet to keep his job.

Despite a 4-1 humiliation at Old Trafford, the Hammers boss who was a favourite for the axe earlier in the campaign is now set to remain – as far as they are concerned anyway.

Skybet have the Croatian at 11/1 for the bullet, way ahead of current favourite for the next manager out – another former Hammers boss at 4/7.

Bob Bradley (4/1), David Moyes (4/1) and Mike Phelan are all at relatively short odds compared to Slav who is next in line at 11/1.

And should we manage a draw at least tomorrow against Arsenal, they will probably lengthen again as the manager looks to negotiate a trick run of fixtures following the excellent point at Old Trafford last weekend.

A Hammers source told us this morning: “There’s no pressure on Slaven at this time – we all knew how hard this run of games would be .”

Well we went for it initially against Man Utd but , with Payet showing little interest and our two best players going off with injuries it came as no surprise to lose easily .
We need league points a lot more than a cup run ( to be honest I was looking forward to a Wembley day out ) and right now we need a full and fit squad . If AC can make a comeback and Sakho can get back to his best we should be confident of a mid-table finish . Injuries to both Creswell & Antonio handed the game to Man Utd and they know it . But hey , that’s football . It just seems our history of injuries is forever dragging us back to basics . The game was lost when Payet made that rediculous play in defense . I would be surprised to see Payet in Claret & Blue next season . We can afford to let him go ( he doesn’t look all that interested imo ) . Bilic needs to make some big decisions and none of them easy . Will we keep our manager ; only time will tell but , time is running out . Survival is the name of the game this season due to our move to the LS . It has and is having a massive impact on the Club ,,, to say otherwise would be stupid . Bilic ” in ” or Bilic ” out ” is a huge question right now .
Still have some faith in Bilic but , I must admit that faith is being stretched .

Agree with you Kevin, Payet whilst still being clearly our best player doesn’t look interested and wants out in my opinion. I think unless a huge bid comes in he will stay, it is time Bilic laid the law down with these under motivated players but in truth I am not sure he is capable of it. As an optimistic fan I see the opportunity for our players to grow and learn from this difficult position we are in but when I have my realistic hat on I think unless improvements happen soon It is time to consider all options with the transfer window imminent.
