As C&H reported earlier, Edin Terzic has been approached as a potential replacement for Julen Lopetegui, should the club decide to part ways with the Spanish head coach.
Lopetegui’s odds of being the next Premier League managerial casualty, behind Russel Martin, were slashed overnight to 11/10.
Terzic ticks two key boxes: he’s a free agent with no buyout clause and has prior experience at West Ham, having been part of Slaven Bilic’s backroom staff.
The German-Croatian has had two spells as Borussia Dortmund manager. In 2020-21, as interim boss, he oversaw 32 games, winning 20, drawing 4, and losing just 8. After a stint as the club’s technical director, he became permanent manager in May 2022, leaving in June 2024 with a remarkable 67% win rate over 124 games.
Terzic narrowly missed out on winning the Bundesliga in 2022-23, losing to Bayern Munich on goal difference. The following season, he guided Dortmund to the Champions League final, where they fell 2-0 to Real Madrid.
His tactical setup favours a 4-2-3-1 or 4-3-3 formation with a possession-based style of play. In 2022-23, Dortmund averaged 58% possession, ranking second in the Bundesliga. Starting his Dortmund career in an analyst role, Terzic has earned a reputation as a skilled tactician. Having worked under Jürgen Klopp, he has transitioned from student to teacher. Players such as Erling Haaland, Jadon Sancho, and Marco Reus have praised his methods.
With Lopetegui under increasing pressure and a high-profile clash against Leicester City on Tuesday, it’s no surprise rumours suggest West Ham are making contingency plans.
Every week I look forward for 2 hours of watching west ham , I don’t expect to win every game, but I do expect that the team does not give out silly goals … I expect west ham to play like they did with Newcastle … but it kills me to see us giving away goals like we did with Arsenal …. If I were Sullivan and cared about west ham I would have told lopetigui not to comeback to the london stadium . I don’t understand why everyone was upset with MOYES saved us twice from relegation , 2 Europa semi finals , one conference league European cup … so what if we lose two or three games 4-0 or 5-0, you just bite the hand that feeds you ….
I asked chat gpt who West Ham should go after as manager for exciting attacking football. At first they said Arnie Slot the manager of Fyanord. I told them he was manager of Liverpool in 2024/5 season so then they recommended a guy called Marcelo Gallardo Manager of River plate. Midfielder in his time known for his defence splitting passes.
As I see it if we win at Leicester great I always want us to win and we can’t afford to lose those points how things are, but if we lose it increases the chances of Lopetegui being sacked which in all honesty I believe we also need now.
Who really thought that it was the right appointment to start with other than Sullivan ? I hoped that it would work but it’s plain that it isn’t, I didn’t think that he would prove to be as bad as it’s turned out.
How the hell. Jlo still has a job beyond me. Who goes in 5-2 down at half time and keeps his job. Fans leaving and then the club blame fans for trouble. I despair to be honest been a fan for well over 50 years. Fed up with the board making us a laughing stock
Terzic ticks two key boxes: he’s a free agent with no buyout clause and has prior experience at West Ham, having been part of Slaven Bilic’s backroom staff.
I am also a free agent, and have over 40 years prior experience as a West Ham fan. So I meet all the criteria. I will send in my CV straight away 😁
