Borges to West Ham mystery solved

|

By Sean Whetstone

There has been much speculation as to why the Carlos Borges to West ham deal has yet to be finalised with Manchester City but the answer appears to be very simple.

West Ham Voice You Tube may have provided the answer!

Borges was in the Portuguese youth team beaten by Italy 1-0 in the UEFA Men’s U19 European championship final which was played on 16 July. The 19 -year-old  played the full 90 minutes of the game.

Like all professional football players, they are allowed a three week break before reporting for duty back at their domestic teams, which means that Borges won’t be due back from holiday at Man City until around 6th August.

Ben Johnson and Michail Antonio have not reported back to West Ham for similar reasons.

Johnson was part of the England U21 squad which reached the Euro final beating Spain 1-0 on 8 July so should be due to return.

Antonio played in a Concacaf Gold Cup game which ended in a 3-0 defeat against Mexico on 13 July
