Boss backs stadium

The London Stadium has taken its share of knocking over the last few years.

But most – with David Moyes among them – believes things are improving as the Hammers look to challenge in big way over the next few seasons.

The atmosphere during games against Liverpool and Chelsea demonstrate that despite some obvious drawbacks things can be more than exciting inside the ground.

Yes, it needs improvement and the upper levels leave stuff to be desired but hopefully that will be sorted as a part of the journey of which Moyes has been discussing at his presser ahead of the match against Dinamo Zagreb.

He believes there has been an improvement since his early days at the club nut clearly realises that for it to continue performances will have to continue at their current level and better.

CandH recently asked whether the place felt more like home and received a mixture of responses from the fans but the manager is happy with what he is seeing.

He told reporters: “The atmosphere is getting better and better at London Stadium and so is the team, so I hope we can keep it going and continue to improve.

It is the start of a long journey to try and challenge the top teams and we are just beginning to make a little bit of an impact on that, but obviously we’ve got a long way to go.

I think we’re talking about ‘home’ more now when we play there and I think we’re more used to it. Maybe it’s taken a few years to settle in, as much as anything.

Most people would say results are what matter and results have been much better at home and the stadium has been great.

My understanding is we’ll probably have very close to 50,000 at the game on Thursday night, which is great. The supporters are turning up in their numbers and hopefully are enjoying the way the team has been playing.”
